Access or parking fee  Scenic view  Significant hike  Bicycles  No Motorcycles  No Quads  Horses  Long Hike (+10km)  Seasonal Access

In Pike National Forest just off the Ringtail Trail. This trail is accessible by all non-motorized users either from the Indian Creek TH* ($6 parking fee) off Hwy. 67, the **Sharptail Ridge TH on Roxborough Rd. (horses & hikers only) or from Roxborough SP (hikers only, $7 entrance fee). For many cachers this is the backcountry but it is a favorite front country trail for equestrians.
A regular ammo can with a theme of horses (what else!). If you don't have something to trade but know a little girl that really likes horses, go ahead and take what you think she would like.
Stop by "Goldilock's Cabin" just east of the cache in the Douglas County open space.

*NOTE It is 4 miles one way on the Indian Creek trail.
**Hikers & horseback riders (no dogs or bikes) are able to get there from the Sharptail TH (8 miles one way) when it isn't closed for hunting in the fall. Check the Douglas Co. Open Space website for closure dates before heading out.
The only reason for the 3 star terrain rating is the distance to the cache. The trail is well built & easy to follow. The views on the way up from either direction are fantastic!

We made our annual ride to check my caches along the Ringtail Trail. Since this is an ammo can it is still in very good condition although the log is was hidden behind has continued to deteriorate. Over 2 years since a find, this cache is now Lonely!

We took a ride on the Ringtail Trail caches to check on them after not making it up last summer. I picked up a TB that has been here since the last finder last June. All seems to be good here, but tree cover will affect your GPS reading the longer you are off the trail looking for this cache. As I stood there checking it my GPS flew from readings of 10' all the way up to over 50'. But before you step off the trail to find this ammo can remember how many feet your GPS is reading.

On a recent trip to Ontario, I dropped off my Year of the Horse Geocoin (TB68734) in Coyotes Den Trading Post (GC30CKB), and retrieved a cute little horse trackable named Chubster (TB6M3ZJ). I brought Chubster back to Colorado to help him achieve his goal of visiting horse related caches, events and places around the world. After a quick stop at the Colorado Horse Park outside of Parker, Colorado, we headed for this area for a little geocache exploring.

The Heritage of Horses was our first find of the day. We subsequently found It's All About Horses and Heart of Horses, taking photos of Chubster by the "spoils" in each one. On the return trip out, we dropped Chubster off at It's All About Horses, where someone else can pick up where we left off, taking him on his journey.

What a beautiful area - thanks for the caches!

Parked at Sharptail Ridge Trailhead and went for a total of 16.4 mile walk today. Beautiful weather except for the strong winds in the morning. Hardly saw anybody all day. Got back to the car about 3:00. I was hoping to get "Heritage of Horses" also, but decided I had done enough miles for today. Will have to save that one for another day. When I returned to the trailhead, there was one horse trailer parked there. These were fun! Really appreciate that you set these out here, it gave me a fun place to walk today. This was my turnaround spot, since it was noon. It was nice having the hint, since there was a bit of snow still on the ground/trail. I'm giving this one a favorite point.
Thanks! GreasePot from Golden, CO

Made our annual trek up to check my caches. Found this one rolled upside down. It was a bit damp inside and the geocaching info sheet in its plastic cover was wet-nothing I could do about that. But the log, in a ziplock bag, was nice and dry. No finders in 2014. The last visitors were 2 Douglas County Open Space folks that signed the log in 2013, although this is not in the Open Space, it is on Forest Service land. If you do make it up here please make sure it is secured with the tree branch to keep it upright. Thanks.
