THIS IS A VIRTUAL REWARD CACHE

The Pikes Peak Region Officers' Memorial was dedicated at a ceremony in Memorial Park, Colorado Springs on Tuesday, May 18, 2018. Since 2005, the Pikes Peak Region Officers' Memorial has been a dream. Fundraising started in 2006 and the dream became a reality with the unveiling of the "Lion of Lucerne" on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

On the base of the statue is the name of the officers who died in the line of duty from law enforcement agencies across the Pikes Peak region. The sculpture is located in Memorial Park next to Prospect Lake. The sculpture is based on one in Switzerland that was carved during the early part of the 19th century, honoring the Swiss Guards who lost their lives in 1792 during the French Revolution.

As a retired police lieutenant from the Colorado Springs Police Department this memorial has a great deal of meaning for me. During my 29 years of service I lost many friends that gave their lives while serving our wonderful community. I hope you enjoy visiting this beautiful memorial. Please take and post at least one photo to show you “found” this cache, with you or your GPS in the photo.

This is one of the most touching memorial parks we have ever seen. Thank you so much for bringing us out here. The Pikes Peak Region Peace Officers Memorial is especially moving. Peace to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country, both military and peace officers. TFTVC

I found this to be a very moving and poignant tribute to our fallen peace officers. I’m familiar with the story behind the original sculpture. Thank you for placing this cache.

I've been to this memorial but that was before there was a virtual cache here. I'm so glad you chose this spot to place your new virtual. I can't think of a more deserving spot. There are a couple of names here of people I have known. Thanks you so much for this.

Little bit of Texas here in Colorado for a few days as we head towards Wyoming to drop our son off for college. Doing some site seeing and adding a few smileys to our map. Thanks for maintaining and placing the cache. Here with Magnum psi, picture submitted for Both of us...
