The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but you will have to go there to gather the information to project the actual coordinates. This is a quick and easy field puzzle. The actual cache is within 0.25 mile of the posted coordinates.

The cache title is Silver Train, but this train was a gold train. The train came from the Homestake Gold Mine in South Dakota. The Homestake was the largest, deepest, and longest operating gold mine in North America and produced 44,000,000 ounces of gold in its 125 year lifetime.

To find this cache first locate the car in the photo.

On the front of the car is a plate with some words and numbers. Take the first number and subtract 2. This is A.
Locate the engine number. (hint: it’s not on the front.) The second digit of the engine number is B.

Cache is located at N 38º 25.0A1’ W 105º 14.5B3’

Cache is a small jar with room for a little swag and smaller trackables. It is located in a very public area so please use appropriate stealth. There is a travel bug and a little FTF prize. Please feel free to add your own photos as long as they do not contain spoilers. Bring your own calligraphy tool.

The information on the origin of the train came from the convenience store owners who also transported all of this from South Dakota to Cañon City. If you have the urge stop in and thank them, or better yet fill up your tank and grab a snack.

Out caching with Hives on a nice day in and around Canon City. TN - TFTC

On an all day cache outing with Ark Goose in the Canon City area to pursue puzzles, challenges, and other interesting caches along the way. It was a perfect day for caching. We were mostly successful in our endeavors with only a few DNFs along the way. There were some that we started to pursue and determined they would require more time and effort than we could invest today so saved them for another time. Thanks to the COs for providing and maintaining a lot of fun caches in this area. Also discovered a lot of fun TBs along the way. This one wasn't on the original list but once I saw what it was about, we had to stop for it. Nice hide. SL. TFTC

When I stopped to get the numbers there was a family posing their kid on the various pieces of mining rolling stock and taking pictures. I told them about where they came from and explained what some of the cars were for. Then got the numbers, solved the easy field puzzle, took a lot of pictures myself and drove down the road to the final. Get's a fave for sure! A nice place to bring muggle visitors as well.
