Counting coup refers to the winning of prestige against an enemy by the Plains Indians of North America. Warriors won prestige by acts of bravery in the face of the enemy, and these acts could be recorded in various ways and retold as stories.

You will need a map of the ? Lakeside Cemetery ?

In order to find the numbers and degrees to obtain a final resection of the cache's final hiding place.
One must find the first stage. And then walk these hallowed grounds and the other warriors that rest there will give you the answers.

When Loveland was founded in 1877, the city needed a cemetery, so on Feb. 5, 1880, W.B. Osborn and G.W. Litle signed the incorporation of Lakeside Cemetery. The prominent Timpke-Osborn family owned the cemetery until 1919, when the city purchased and took over its management. The first burial in Lakeside Cemetery took place in 1880 for Elizabeth Burdette.
But the oldest grave is for Joseph McFadden, who died in 1877. His grave was moved from the Old St. Louis Cemetery. Judge W.B. Osborn moved the Big Thompson Cemetery, later know as the Old St. Louis Cemetery, to Lakeside in 1884. The Timpke-Osborn family had erected a two-tone headstone for their family lot that contained eight plots.
In 1912, Wilbert Stiles, a wealthy land and water owner, started Loveland Burial Park nearby. Mayor Archibald Foster wanted the city to operate both cemeteries as one, so the city purchased Loveland Burial Park in 1919, the same year the city received the deed of transfer for Lakeside Cemetery. The headstones in Lakeside Cemetery carry a variety of images, including animals, angels and plants.

! The Exciting Cache Series!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

Thanks to Volunteers: Greasepot, Taylorgeotracker, Ivy Dog Parents, Team Boogity3, Grand High Pobah, Boborr 80909, Imusttravel2000, Buzz Lightyear I, Sandhill 49er, MrVolkswagen, Isisfan, LadyCoots, Rockymtn8iv, Fork-L-Man, TwoCs, Outdrlvr201, Condor1, 2Cachedivers, arthurat, smilz787, Kyotmoon, Mountain Roamer, Cuttie Pie, SugarPug, Team Tiger Pride, ernie66, drnetwork, Team w-bar-v, Dynamite Rabbit, Twins18, DustyKat, mtnbirders, The Johnson Family, RustyBeerCan & Marma, grymreaper, nteclpr, Irish.Eyes, Moose1 & Mama Moose, Joe Friday, 3cacheteers, Electronicgeek, Jake92, 3cacheteers, Dasha Aussies, KB0UMW, hiking_fool, and Tahosa & Sons, Denali41, Kingjr.

Attempted this more that a year ago with ecanderson. He pointed out the error of our ways at the first stage. After that - no problem. TFTC

Well heck. It figures that if we can find an ambiguity in a cache description that offers two choices, we'll make the wrong choice every time and never notice the alternative. We had used the wrong Tahosa virtual for GC3 7 (Yes, there's another option nearby!) No wonder we couldn't get the projections to converge anywhere! The right one is much closer, so I doubt anyone else will make our silly mistake.

Tahosa + 1 son came out today for an on-site review of this one and a beer or two after, and we got this one properly sorted this time!

This one was more of a challenge than I expected! I found all the coords to the first stage (very cute) thinking that was the final, only to find more instructions. I went home to plot the bearings and ended up about 40' from the cache. Clever hide. I almost didn't find it, but my geosenses kicked in at the last minute before I was forced to go home empty handed. I certainly know a great deal more about Loveland Cemetery now. It really is a very nice, peaceful place. I have to give this one a favorite for the challenge and the setting. Thanks!

(P.S. This one's more of a micro than a small. That threw me off for a while.)

I find the Spirit Quest series to be very enjoyable. There is really so much history that is found while searching for these caches. This was no exception -- a treat to look back in time and learn a little bit about the participants in this cache. Today, the weather was magnificent and I found the time to get back to locate the final. I think I re-computed the final location about six times, with my most accurate being about 20 feet SE of the actual location. Geosenses kicked in and I was able to find the well-hidden container in short fashion. Thanks Tahosa & Sons for another spectacular cache! I really enjoyed the hunt and the trip back in history! SL
