The geocache is placed in honor of by geocaching companion - Loki. He is a 9-year old red healer/boxer mix who loves to accompny me on my geocaching excursions. Together, we've logged a lot of miles through these foothills and mountains, particularly along Hwy 103. We visited a geocache at this very spot back in July 2015 (the now-archived "Beaver Brook Lake Vista").
I already have a geocache named after my other pup, Kota, down in the valley below. So now its' Loki's turn.
The reservoir below is a drinking water source for Lookout Mountain. They have recently posted signs all around the reservoir warning of fines if they catch you or your dogs swimming in the water - so beware! That just makes this an even more approriate location for "Loki," as he is a hydrophobe who will only go in water up to his ankles, even if I enourage him to get wet (Kota is another matter). There is a trail around the west side of the reservoir that connects to the Beaver Brook Trail and the trails leading up to Saddleback Mountain and Floyd Hill. So you can hike a long ways and find a lot of caches when you start here.
