Getting to this cache will provide you with a wonderful hike in the forest and tremendous views of Clear Creek Canyon and the high mountain ranges to the west. Though most of the way is a reasonable forest trail, there are two sections where the trail crosses small boulder fields requiring a bit more footwork.

Our family loves to find caches, but this was our family's first experience in hiding one. We placed it on a beautiful day hike on Mother's Day 2017 with our two daughters.

Getting to the parking area will afford you lovely views of Golden and the Table Mountains to the East and Clear Creek Canyon and the high mountains to the west. Best parking is on Lookout Mountain Road in Windy Gap, but there are other options including the Buffalo Bill Grave and Museum. Even if you don't park there, check it out! 

The hike to the cache is a reasonable forest trail with 'standard' rocks, roots, and boulders. Views are wonderful - it's a great hike on a hot day because most of it is in the shade of the tall pine trees. There are a couple of portions that are uneven, particularly across two boulder fields, and when you near the cache, the last bit requires a bit of a climb.

I had planned to hike from the Windy Saddle area only to find it was closed for renovation. I was a little disappointed but figured I visit here often enough I could return later. However, as I continued my drive, I found that I could park at the Lookout Mountain parking and still access this cache!

Got to GZ and quickly spotted the hinted items and soon had the cache in hand. Really enjoyed the views on the way too and from the cache today. TFTC!

Headed this way because lasouthpaw wanted a cache for her D/T grid. I've learned any time she says "there's this challenge..." it's best to just nod and go along. We got a late start, but had a great hike out and back. Thanks for the cache!

I've been craving some time in the mountains and luckygecko is in town, so we headed over to Golden and the Beaver Brook Trail. We got here mid-afternoon and it was cloudy, but that was a good thing because it kept the temperature around 65 degrees. About a mile down the trail I realized I made a rookie mistake and forgot a pen. And we were just a little too far to go back and get one. Wouldn't you know it, we found a pencil just off the trail while we were looking for this one. It caused us to search the wrong place, but after I read the hint we redirected and made the find. Everything was in good shape here. Thanks for the smiley! Find #3451.

Out hiking with Weatherman64 this fine morning. Came upon this cache and began the search. It wasn’t too long before I made the grab, signed in and continued our adventure! Thanks for hiding this cache for us to find! IHN!
