In 2014, The Historic Green Mountain Falls Foundation purchased 139 acres of land on Mt. Dewey to preserve the hills above the town from further development. The Mt. Dewey trail was completed in 2015, replacing a very eroded social trail. Although the new trail ends just past Mt. Dewey, the Horseshoe connector trail through Pike National Forest continues to North Catamount Reservoir. You can also take a descending connector to the Catamount Trail and its "Garden of Eden” meadows.

At a grassy high point of 9227 feet, enjoy the panoramic view. You will find the remains of a small cabin and a heavily overgrown former road heading up from the west. Look for the cache nestled in a nearby tree about six feet from the ground. Be careful of nails in the cabin materials.

Congratulations to GoMRT - FTF!

what a fun day of hiking and caching! so glad we got out on this trail! thank you for placing all of these fun caches. we had to stop caching and head down because we were with some non cachers who’s patience was wearing thin. :) we’ll be back!

This was my favorite location of the day. Java Chip made the find while I took in the views. Thanks for bringing us to this neat area!

First time on this trail for me, so thought I'd do the loop and find lots of caches. Thanks for this addition to the many interesting hides!

Getting logs caught up, now that retreat to a more southerly (& wayy hotter) home provides more useable internet!

i like SnailMan's picture of the impressive 'House to the North' ... Do you suppose the chain of ownership runs through direct descendents from nearby remains, to the stucco masterpiece ???

That was a pretty small cabin. Not like the house just a little ways to the North. That looks like a mansion. TFTC.

Not much left of the old place.

Across the valley to the west is probably the replacement for this one.

Looks to be slightly bigger by about ten thousand square feet or so.

Thanks for the cache!

Ernie, Jordana and I were hiking on this really nice trail ( new to me ) and we all thought it was a good idea to put up some caches. As always, Ernie selected a wonderful spot that cachers will enjoy for years to come!
