The most common bird in North America at a point of time, today the Passenger Pigeon is only found in International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) extinct animals list. The Passenger Pigeons, also known as wild pigeons, were found in large migratory flocks containing millions of birds. This bird was a major source of food for the native Indians, as well as European travelers and therefore large-scale hunting was one of the most important factor which led to a drastic decline in their numbers. The first decade of 20th century was marked by rare individual sightings, before it finally became extinct after the last confirmed sighting in 1912.

The "fourth was with us" on this beautiful Colorado spring day. We visited and found 30 caches, this was one of them. Thanks to all the owners for placing and maintaining these for us to enjoy. It was lovely here today... rolling green grasslands, lots of barns and windmills, and many horses, goats, sheep, even llamas were seen. TFTC SL

Snow day, so catching up on logs.

Found this fun little series with animjason while we were in the area. I love impromptu caching adventures.

Thanks imusttravel2000! Logged Extinct Animal: Passenger Pigeon from a ninth galaxy using c:geo!

BearAdair and I weren't doing anything today. We were driving around Parker doing errands when the caching itch hit.

We ended up in this area finding extinct animals, and defeating an alien invasion.

Thanks for the fun. Ended up with 13 finds before it started getting dark.

Today after grabbing a puzzle cache in Parker, I headed to the plains to grab several caches. During my day I saw two Kestrels (I thought they were Merlins, but they aren't), a Golden Eagle, a Red Tailed Hawk, several deer and a bunch of Magpies. I always wanted a passenger pigeon when I was a kid, but they were long gone.
Sad to see Robesphire's name on the log. RIP.

I got 38 caches today; enough to earn the final Hidden Creatures World Turtle souvenir, yay! JC had a good time with me today; she's snoozing beside me as I log today's caches. TFTC.

Like the previous cachers, we found the container missing its bottom but were not able to locate it on the ground. We suspect the frequent blowing in the wind may loosen it and create this issue. We had a similar container in the geomobile and replaced it with a new log but located it a little lower than the original placement.
