THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES; READ ON TO FIND OUT HOW TO SOLVE THE CLUES, AND FIND THE CACHE.

THIS SERIES IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR 2WD CITY CARS. While it was easy in our unmodified '91 Jeep Cherokee, there were a few spots where a 2WD car may not make it.

The kid friendly Loopey Tunes series of geocaches are named after the popular cartoon series and because they are on the loop of Ice Cave Creek Road (Forest Service Road (FSR) 324) and Winding Stairs Road (FSR 323).

ONCE YOU HAVE THE COORDINATES TO THE FINAL AND THE COMBINATION TO THE LOCK ON THE FINAL CONTAINER, PARK EAST OF THE CACHE AND FOLLOW THE RIDGELINE; IF YOU PARK CLOSER TO GZ BUT NORTH OF THE CACHE, THE HIKE WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DIFFICULT.

WHEN ENTERING THE COMBINATION, ENSURE YOU LINE UP THE LETTERS BETWEEN THE WORD "WORDLOCK" AND THE RAISED INDENTATION ON THE LOCK. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO.

Recommend starting the loop at N 39° 06.187 W 105° 01.566. This is the beginning of the Ice Cave Creek Road (FSR 324). This loop is just under 8 miles total on dirt roads, not trails. There are very few motorized vehicles on these roads, so mountain biking or even hiking are good alternatives to driving. Depending on your chosen mode of transportation, it is recommended that you prepare for the 8 miles and take water, snacks, sunscreen, etc. The loop is north of Woodland Park off Rampart Range Road and is subject to lots of snow and ice during the winter.

All 8 geocaches are ammo cans. Each of the first seven are traditional caches that have a very simple puzzle in the container -- if you can identify the 14 characters below and do very simple math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) then you can accomplish this series.

6 of the first 7 caches will have a puzzle such as:

HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART !!! TAKE THIS LIST OF VALUES WITH YOU, but if you forget to, there are printouts of these values in the #1 cache.

Bugs Bunny = 1
Daffy Duck = 0
Elmer Fudd = 1
Foghorn Leghorn = 1
Marvin the Martian = 3
Pepe Le Pew = 8
Porky Pig = 6
Road Runner = 5
Speedy Gonzales = 8
Sylvester = 2
Taz (the Tasmanian Devil) = 9
Tweety = 1
Wile E Coyote = 4
Yosemite Sam = 3

So for this example, you get X = 2

The final geocache is located at N 39 05.ABC W 105 01.DEF

6 of the first 7 geocaches will give you letters A through F for the coordinates to the final cache. The remaining 1 of the first 7 geocaches will have an even easier question to answer that will give you the combination to the lock that is on the final container.

The whole idea is to have fun -- the puzzles are all very easy, and can be solved by kids of all ages in just a few seconds -- there is nothing sneaky or tricky about them, as we would not want any cachers to make the trip, find the containers and then not be able to get the final cache.

Good luck and as always -- have fun !!!

Here are all the geocaches in the Loopey Tunes series:

1. Loopey Tunes #1

2. Loopey Tunes #2

3. Loopey Tunes #3

4. Loopey Tunes #4

5. Loopey Tunes #5

6. Loopey Tunes #6

7. Loopey Tunes #7

8. And the FINAL cache: Loopey Tunes FINAL cache

CONGRATULATIONS to colorado gypsies and hartsdale for co-FTF on all 8 Loopey Tunes geocaches !

Had the wrong coordinates. Made the little boy we were with very sad cause he couldn't find the last treasure. Got the final coordinates and went back up to find the cache and take a picture and "treasure" for the little boy.

I found this nice cache, along with plenty of rain and hail, while tooling around with GoMRT on a geo-run. This series had not really been on my radar, but with GoMRT's invitation and knowledge that this CO's caches are always in good shape, I happily partook in the hunt. Under normal circumstances, this would have been a pretty awesome time; but I soon grew fearful that GoMRT was a bit "off." His log entries of late had been a bit off, but his behavior today was certainly suspect. I'm used to his rantings about how someday his Magellan might get a reading more accurate than my garmin, but he was really distracted during the searches. Every time we would meet a muggle, he would flash him a gang sign; seemingly eagerly waiting for a reply. Where we on a cache run, or trying to conduct a link up for some illicit activity? My suspicions were further confirmed when a truck tried to run us off of the road. MT Herman road was already dangerous enough with all of the gun fools that can't handle their firearms, now this. Except for the periodic Colorado ice showers, I was happy to make the finds on the individual caches and then finally get my hands on the final. Our parking spot was occupied by a RV, but we still managed to get there and back without problems. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache, and the series, for everyone to find.

We made it!!! After using our fingers and toes to count the values we needed to count, throwing in a differential equation or two to get the final coordinates, we had what we needed to plot out our course for the final. By then, the rain had restarted and was really starting to become annoying....

Making our way in KTrackers cachemobile (which really was wise considering the back half of the loop really is for 4WD vehicles only), we headed to the final where we ran into a family camping there in an RV. So, your parking spot may be occupied by someone having fun in the forest. However, we made our way to the final in a downpour without issue.

Today, we saw no bears in the local area, only a young buck deer, a few chipmunks, and four wild turkeys (no, not the kind in a bottle, but the ones you hunt and eat). It was a good trip around the loop to see another part of the Pikes National Forest today in some wickedly wild weather.

(It should be noted, Mt. Herman road is taking its lumps this monsoon season and creating some interesting driving conditions. Folks don't seem to understand the rules of forest road driving unfortunately when they should. Be careful folks because others may not be.)

Thanks for the loop today!
