#11 in a series of fact-filled caches filled with facts! NOTE: It survived the fire!
In the 1880's, it was difficult to find sufficiently pernicious schoolmarms. Pioneers of the American west drew them from afar and paid them handsomely to properly subdue their children.

Local pioneers built a schoolhouse on this location and they hired Ms. Abigail Goode to run it.

Abigail's methods were unconventional from the start; she felt that the best way to embed facts in young minds was through the use of an invention she called the Goode Hatte.

A young student wearing his Goode Hatte
The Goode Hatte consisted of a cast iron transformer core wound with magnetic wires. Its purpose, according to Ms. Goode, was to "stimulate and facilitate the circulation of the mental æthers of the brain". At a weight of 14 pounds, it proved a burden even to the older students.

Then considered unconventional and dubious, her practices today are almost thoroughly discredited. Despite this, one of her finest successes was President Woodrow Wilson.

In the summer of 1893, Abigail Goode fell ill and was unable to start the fall session. Her final resting place was a small grave at this location.

In 1954, the Thompson Canyon Flood whisked away all traces of the schoolhouse and her grave.

Ms. Goode was originally buried at a depth of 32 feet.

You're looking for a medium-sized, well-camo'd tube. Initial contents:
* log
* pen
* 3 skinny glowsticks
* 1 geocaching glowstick

This is a very short hike from the parking pull-off across the road. Bring the kids!

It's been a while between my last [Citation Needed] and this find today. I really enjoy these write-ups, and make sure to take the time to check them out before finding the cache. It really does add to the experience! I wish others took a note from your book more often Triggur, we could stand more quality cache write-ups in my opinion.

Anyways, parked on this nice day and made it over to GZ quickly... but this hide threw me for a bit! Natural camo was aiding the cache so I had to stick to this one to come up with the smile. Cache is hidden well, and stocked well for that matter. Everything with it and the log is in great shape. TFTC|SL

Easy find and I can't tell if this story is tongue in cheek or factual. It's a weird place to build a school house!
