Out with Olive and Farmgirl today. Olive had a great day playing in Grape Creek! Cache was an easy find and the river water was easy to cross and not to cold. Stamped the log and we're heading for home. Thanks for bringing us to this fun spot. [8d][8d] SL TFTC

8 year old grandson found it, this is our second ! We will have to get used to the different containers used. Eli left a dime as we forgot to bring anything more interesting. He was happy taking the abelone shell.

[FTF] at 10:55 AM. I hadn't planned on hunting for this cache when I got up this morning. I wanted to wait until the weather was a little warmer and hopefully the creek not as cold. But after my second cup of coffee it began to sound like a good idea, so I grabbed Bandit the geohound and headed out. I've been down here a couple of times before and I had a pretty good idea of what the road was like. I found it to be a little rougher than I remember, but my Tacoma had no problem. I didn't use 4-wheel drive, but high ground clearance is a necessity. Most of the way I drove 5 mph in 1st gear. I was surprised to see 8 other vehicles at the trail head. I think I got the last parking spot.
The hike down to the creek was easy and I spotted a pretty good place to cross. The water was not as cold as I thought it would be. Bandit wasn't crazy about crossing the creek, but I finally coaxed him into it. I had put my phone and GPS in zip lock bags just in case I slipped in the water. When I got across I could see a likely spot and headed straight to it and there it was. I didn't even have to look at the GPS. I was happy to see a blank log. None of the swag I brought would fit, but I did add a pencil since there wasn't one in the container.
I explored the area for a while and took a few pictures. Somehow I never noticed these ruins on previous trips to this area. I wonder if this was a homestead or something else. Thanks for putting a cache here to get me to see this place.
