Dogs  Recommended for kids  Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  Bicycles  Motorcycles  Off-road vehicles  Abandoned Structure

Once again, while out exploring, I have stumbled upon another crumbling structure.

What is it? Does it have history? Information is always welcome:)
Start at the Red Canyon Park entrance and follow the road/trail (Cr-F24). Motorized vehicles are allowed.

I put the terrain level to 2.5 because it is a trail and there are sections that may be impassable to cars.

TFTC SL kept a get out of hell free card! The seal is starting to break down on Box.

I parked at the Y and walked in since I didn't know what the road was like beyond. Good thing I did, there was a really rocky spot a couple hundred feet beyond where a low-clearance 2WD car couldn't have made it through and I could see where lots of people had turned around. I found the cache easily enough but the sun (or time) had practically welded the gasket to the container. I had to do some prying and ended up tearing it in a couple of spots. I signed the log, left a fossil tooth, put the gasket back the best I could and covered it a bit better.
I'll have to do some looking to find out more about this place. Who says the old timers had no use for scenery or aesthetics. This was more than just a place to live. Fancy stone and brickwork lots of big windows; in it's prime it would have been a nice place to live and the views are still fabulous.

Today we were trying to cache north of here, but too much lightening in that area. Could hear the crack with the flash...too close! Stay in the truck! Anyway decided to get a few caches in this area. Road was rutted and very muddy with all the recent rain. Neat, solid structure here, minus the graffiti. Thanks for the cache along this back road!
