A cache placed above North Beaver Creek.

Parking can be found off of Mt. Herman Rd. where Trail 715 crosses the road (see additional waypoint). It's about a 2 mile round-trip hike from here. The trail parallels the steep north bank of the creek; there are some good spots to cross the creek to the east and west of the cache, but I don't advise crossing directly from one bank to the next once close to GZ (area is prone to erosion).

North Beaver Creek is one of my favorite places to hike up and down at just about any time of the year. There are some pretty good fishing spots, wading pools, and a few "select" camping opportunities. This cache is placed in the shade of the creek's south bank. Take a few moments to sit and listen to the surrounding environment.

Side note: This is a fairly bear-intense area. When placed, a lot of bear activity was observed within a few hundred feet of the cache. Keep an eye out.

Good luck!

I hiked down from the cache above to this one (who the heck goes the other way?!?). Found it quite easily. I snagged the whistle (probably good to have) and left two guard dogs. TFTC!

We wanted to get a hike in today before tomorrow’s snowstorm makes the trails harder to follow. Quick find. Signed log and replaced container as found. Thanks for the cache.

Out on the first geocache home of the year! Found it with my dad and girlfriend and dogs!We (I) ignored the note about not crossing right near GZ and we all ended up scrambling down the side of the wall to get there. My dad found the cache rather quickly and in good shape. Thanks!

I parked on Mt. Herman Road north of the cache where there is a pretty good connector down to Trail 715. Only the last 100 feet required going off trail, and those 100 feet were interesting! Found the cache where Back Country Horsemen had stashed it. Note that the part of the hint about "north" no longer applies...try "south" instead. This lonely cache needs some more finders! TFTC!

I came to ride the Preserve area & decided to head up the 715 to see how close I could get to this cache. I didn't go all the way to the power line trail because I saw a trail that I thought would intersect it. It did not. I made it part way down the hill & found a nice tree to tie my horse so I could hike the final 400'. I would have made it closer had I gone down the power line though. The creek was frozen but I crossed where it was pretty narrow because I could hear the water running underneath. Some brush busting brought me to a more open area where I easily gained the altitude I needed. When I got to GZ I found a nice little cache spot but nothing there. I panicked for a moment until I turned around & saw the container wedged against a tree about 30' down the hill. I repositioned the container in a safer position & added some BIG rocks.
Hard to believe this cache doesn't have more finders. Nothing for 3 years just after its hidden but now 3 logs this year.
It is a true 3 terrain though considering the hike in from the road so don't take it too lightly.

Thanks for another great cache! Came up this way after work for a Friday hike with CrumbCrunchers. Our goal was to finally finish off this area. After finding Reference we headed down the trail to grab a couple at the bottom. Man! How do you find these spots! Pretty treacherous getting down the hill and across the stream at this spot! Crumbcrunchers slipped in and had to finish the day off with a wet foot. Back up the hill we spotted the cache quickly. Signed the log and replaced as found. Neat area, but the trail is no longer maintained. It's getting pretty overgrown. We spotted several neat bugs along the way here. Very large colorful beetles. Now... just one more... more cross country bushwhacking. Everything is in great condition here! Thanks again Tom.dog for another new and interesting location!

I think we managed to make it back to 715 and enjoyed some time on the trail until the fork. Then we took the lower trail down...and down the power lines...and down some hill to the creek. Then to find a way to cross the creek and scramble back up the other side. What an adventure! RPieperco and I seem to find the craziest hikes. All is in good shape. Thanks!
