The cache site overlooks Eagle Lake and a youth camp. In 1953 when The Navigators purchased the Glen Eyrie property for its headquarters, the 330-acre Eagle lake property was included in the purchase on the condition that it be used for youth work. In 1957 the Navigators acquired some old marine tents and took 13 local boys camping for a week. This was the beginning of Eagle lake boys' camp.

Take Rampart Range Road to Northfield Reservoir Rd (FS road 303) and follow it until it forks. Take the right fork – Forest Service Rd. 302. Unless you have a 4WD or high clearance vehicle this would be a good area to park and hike the rest of the way. There are no trails to this cache, but no bushwhacking is necessary as it is all open forest.

Don't forget to discover the ladybug coin copy attached to the container's lid. Her purpose there is to keep an eye on the boys.
***Congrats to akabumper for being FTF on 4/22/10***

I picked up this nice cache today after finding the nearby GC26VBQ 6666. I was pretty banged up, frustrated, wet, and tired after 11 hours of driving and hiking; but I decided to come after this one anyway. After my ordeal at 6666, I vowed never to come back to this area, so I figured I would grab this cache while I had the chance. Fortunately, I made the find relatively quickly since I spent all of my bad karma at 6666. In the distance, I could hear activity at the Camp. Either someone was having allot of fun, or a bear was loose in the camp...I really couldn't tell which.

I noted the trackable permanently assigned to this cache. I do that technique as well since so many TBs get stolen nowadays. Now that I think about, I think I picked up that trick from a cache I found a few years ago from this CO. In addition to the ladybug, I found evidence of another critter at GZ in form of shed snake skin. Where is my snake attribute Estes? Come on now, don't cheat your fellow cachers!

I didn't realize it at the time, but while logging this cache at home I notice it was lonely. This was a great bonus as I keep track of lonely stats for challenges and personal satisfaction. With this find, I now have (counting only 1 year or more lonely) a total of 109 years,1 months lonely time on 55 caches from 11 North American States & Provinces.

Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, the TB, and giving me a excuse to hang out in the rain some more and enjoy the sights! TFTC.

This hike was a little bit longer today as the road was closed off at 38 57.181 104 57.057 - let's hope it's just temporary and will reopen soon. Well worth the hike along a beautiful ridge with a carpet of wildflowers. Thanks for the hide!

Out early this morning for some hiking and fresh air, making room for the feast later this afternoon.

I got lucky and went right to it.

Thanks for another fun hide to look for!

Thanks for checking on this and getting it up and running again. I saw several USFS vehicles today and spoke with a few employees. It was very nice to have USFS posted parking coordinates. It was 2 miles RT to get this one and 6666. Picked up one TB and discovered the other.
