The partner site to Soul City Uptown. Cache is on a pretty trail through Ponderosa pines and scattered boulders.
Original contents:
pink hair combs, red baby shoes, piece of sidewalk chalk, map postcard, 'downwind' button, purple plastic bracelet, 10 pence Irish coin, party blower, shark ring, seashell, seed packet, 'button bug' travel bug.

Park at N37 18.172, W107 52.365. To get to this trailhead, begin on Main Street (Rte 550). Go west on 32nd street. Take a right onto West 4th Avenue. Go one block, and then the road turns to dirt and that's the trailhead parking lot.

Go up the Animas City Mountain trail from the parking lot. (There is a split at the very beginning, you want to take the trail to the left.) This is the only strenuous part of the access. Head west off the trail when you get to the power lines, at N 37 18.190 W 107 52.530. The hike will be much easier if you stay on the trail. The cache is within sight of the path at N 37 18.350 W 107 52.683.

To return to the parking area: head back the way you came. For fun, you can take a slightly different trail back by bearing left at the split in the trail at N 37 18.321 W 107 52.695. This secondary trail rejoins the Animas Mountain trail at N 37 18.214 W 107 52.519. You'll end up within a few yards of the place you left from, but get to look at a different set of impressive boulders.
-or-
To go on to Soul City Uptown:continue along this same trail, heading toward N 37 18.674 W 107 52.795. When your GPS shows you are even with this waypoint, leave the trail and bushwack toward the cliff, heading up the slope through the trees. The rocks bounce your signal around so you won't necessarily end up right at the waypoint. However, there are 3 ways that I know of that will get you up the cliff, so use your scouting abilities and enjoy! The route requires bushwacking, using hands and feet, and being very, very careful. Once you are on top of the cliff, Soul City Uptown is about 500 ft east along a faint trail. The cache is about 15 ft from the trail. -DanceGypsy

p.s. Another cache, called A.T.M., is also located near the Animas City Mountain trail at N37 18.260 W 107 52.506. You can visit both my Soul City caches and also A.T.M. cache, in about a 2 hour loop. Either go ParkingSpot-->Downtown-->up the cliff-->Uptown-->A.T.M.-->ParkingSpot (the easier way, I think) or the reverse: parkingspot-->A.T.M.-->Uptown-->down the cliff-->Downtown-->parking spot.

After getting the Animas cache we decided to fill in a few more early caches on our Jasmer grid and Animas Mountain filled the bill with easy trail access to each. The trail to this one is on the map of the Dalla area that the visitor center downtown has, and it also appears on the small map on the cache page with one click to move in closer, as well as on the app. There are signs at the major trail intersections too, along with one at the trailhead at 32nd and 4th (take 4th to the right and into the gravel parking area). The cache is an easy find in a very pretty area of ponderosas and oaks. TFTC

The batteries in my GPS died just as I arrived at the GZ. I had to use geosense to locate this one. Lots of fun. A great hide.

Animjason and I made last-minute plans to take a quick road-trip to Durango, The Spanish Peaks, and back home in order for both of us to complete the Colorado Escoffier Challenge which requires finding the top 10 oldest caches in Colorado. He just needed GC3DF, while I needed that one plus GC19. We left early on Tuesday morning and got back in the early afternoon on Wednesday. We worked very efficiently but also made the most of our trip by finding other significant caches along the way including two Wherigos, a few Virtuals, and several EarthCaches. We also made sure to get cache finds in as many counties as we could.

All required answers have already been sent to the cache owners, pictures will be added to this log as needed, and the Wherigo finds have also been logged on wherigo.com.

This is day 1194 of my current daily caching streak. Thanks for helping me to extend it by another day.

Went on an impromptu trip with K of KJKLOCK to Durango to complete my Escoffier Challenge. He has able to also finish his with GC19 on the way back.

We left early Tuesday, and grabbed a few caches on the way. Then spent the majority of the day in Durango and Silverton. Then drove to the Spanish Peaks, of course caching along the way. Caught some sleep near the arch, then cached our way home. Super busy, but fun!

Had a fun time cliff hopping to this one ;)
Thanks DanceGypsy! Logged Soul City Downtown using a seventh galaxy!
