The hike to the cache is just over a mile and a quarter; one-way. The first section of the hike is one mile of cement trail along the river. The second section is a quarter mile of fairly well defined trail along French Creek.....Use the West side of the footbridge. The last section is only about 200ft. in length; but it's scree, a bit vertical, rocky and overgrown. Leave the trail, cross the creek and head up.

The cache is placed close to the top of the rock outcrop that your GPSr keeps pointing to - approach from the south.
The container is about the size of a grapefruit and placed among the rocks - check the picture. It contains a log and a few trading items but no pencil.

This is a dangerous location!
Searching for the cache at the site could be a little tricky because of the drop-offs and the horrible reception.

Don't know what I was thinking of, placing a cache here; guess it was the view. After you've been up here, you'll remember your hike up French Creek every time you pass through the canyon. You can almost see the cache.

Congrats to imcasey on the FTF!, sorry you had to go through this.

Sorry for the very late log. Too much fall caching and not enough logging. Biking along the trail and knew there was a cache nearby but I was looking for an actual trail! Finally decided to push through the brush and found a faint trail along the drainage. Found a safe spot to lock the bikes, climbed over the downfall and on towards GZ. My husband's hip was really bothering him so he let me go ahead and UP to the cache. Thank goodness for the detailed hint or I wouldn't have found it as my GPS didn't like the rocks & was reading 40'. Be careful going back down too. Loose rocks.

We are visiting our son who lives in this area from Rochester,New York. Decided a good way to see the area was to rent bikes and do the canyon trail. This was one of our finds for the day, and probably the most difficult! Cache is in good shape. Thanks for the adventure!
