Set to further your enjoyment in exploration of the Gunnison Gorge. Accessible in family auto but fairly rough road and recommend high clearance vehicle such as SUV or better. The road itself rates a 2 star terrain with the last 100 ft on foot and the last few yards a 2.5 Terrain.
At an elevation of 5291ft., this road is one of the gateways into The Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area and Wilderness, a spectacular 63,000 acre multi-use area known for its outstanding and diverse natural, scenic, geologic, scientific and wilderness resources. Within these acres exceptional recreational opportunities offered include flat and white water boating, Gold Medal trout fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, mountain biking, and off-road vehicle riding adventures . . . . as well as a growing number of opportunities for geocaching set by the geocaching community.
