The year is 1879 and the beautiful mountain town of Buena Vista is bustling with miners headed to the mine fields. The town is growing and it is said there are over 60 places a man can get a drink. A group of locals pool their resources and start building Buena Vista’s first church building. It was used for 90 years and then moved to its current location and is now home to the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.
Our Visitor Center attracted over 6,000 people this past year, with approximately 150 visitors per day during the summer. Located on U.S. Highway 24 South in a historic church building, the Visitor Center is complete with maps, brochures, visitor guides, event flyers, business cards, relocation information and various handouts. The Chamber host numerous community events, including our Fourth of July Parade and Festival, Gold Rush Days, the ATV Historic Color Tour, Christmas Opening Festival and the April Business Expo and of course the Geocaching Journey. Be sure to come and enjoy all of them. Events can be found at BuenaVistaColorado.org. The Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, established in 1976, promotes and enhances the economic vitality of the surrounding community by serving as a business advocate. We are a thriving non-profit, membership-driven organization that provides a variety of services to over 370 member organizations.
This cache is hidden around this charming, historic church. Picnic tables are available in the park around the building.
