Takes more than an hour  Scenic view  No Motorcycles  No Quads  No Off-road vehicles  Medium hike (1km-10km)

A cache offering a view of Gillette falls in a beautiful area requiring some hiking to reach.
This cache (as most in my Sport series) is in a beautiful natural area. This cache can be approached from several sides (including from highway 67 and from the Devil's Playground on Pikes Peak highway) but no approach is easy. It will take some work with a map to find the route to this cache. This effort will be amply rewarded by a beautiful and unspoiled hike (I have never seen a single other person when hiking in this area.) The approach from 67 shows some roads but you will find that you can not approach except on foot via these roads. No matter how you approach it will take some effort and careful planning to find a suitable approach. That is the challenge of this cache and the reason for the difficulty. Once you are at ground zero, you will find the cache easy to find. It is a lock-n-lock container containing some small trade items that is clearly visible but you will have to look at just the right angle. As is my standard there is no need to touch or move anything to find the cache.

One of the things I really enjoy about geocaching is being shown a special area that I wouldn't otherwise see. That is the motivation behind this cache. I want to share this beautiful and very rarely visited area.

 Hints

The cache is a clear plastic lock-n-lock which is NOT camouflaged. Just look at the right angle. Unless there is deep snow you should be able to find this.

9:59 AM Having completed our 64th Colorado county on 8/5, my wife and I are enjoying our customary 2 week stay in Divide. (I never get tired of mentioning the Colorado 64 challenge, since it it was 10 years in the making.)

Today I was privileged to meet with WingsAndTales to hike to this less-visited cache and see some great views. We were this year's visitors. The hike wore me out, but I'm happy to add a favorite point.

I signed the log. Thanks, WolfgangStiller, for the cache.

This cache has been on my to do list for ages. The weather cooperated today to make the hike with a friend that is a part-timer in Colorado. We parked at a spot on the toll road above the cache and made the hike down into the valley. It was so lush after all the rain we have had this year. The trail comes and goes especially in the willows but we were always able to find it again. We continued just south of the cache to get a look at the falls and it was well worth it. If the Ring the Peak trail ever gets completed this valley is sure to see more visitors. TFTC

Beautiful hike up from Cripple Creek reservoir. Picked up trackable geocoin, too. Double the fun!
