trail head

Off of Gold Camp Road- Victor Side. Parking at N 38 deg. 44.043, W 105 deg. 01.317. BRING YOUR OWN PEN OR PENCIL AS THERE IS NOT ONE IN THE CACHE. Oh, by the way, A hiking stick sure will help on this hike!!
The best way to reach the trailhead is to take Road 81 towards Victor and then turn left onto Gold Camp Rd. (Road 8). Not too far past the tunnel, I think it was near mile marker 6, but don't quote me. We pretty much just stumbled upon the area while looking for a new place to hike so I wasn't paying too much attention to the mile markers. You'll find it no problem. Trail starts across the road from the parking area. Look for one of those standard "rubberized" trail markers. Starts pretty much as an old jeep like track but quickly disappears into the woods. When you get to this point head to the right. If you look carefully you should be able to discern a slight track. I would NOT advise bringing kids younger than 10 to this cache due to the rough terrain. Cache is at elevation 9836. We just had to look around to determine the best ways to head up and over to reach the cache sight. Be careful! Coords were the best I could get in this area so I really don't want to hear that they are bad. ;))) After locating the cache, continue on for some amazing views at N 38 deg. 44.392, W 105.01.317. Elevation 9951. The rock formations alone are worth the hike up. To reach this point we headed to the next gully/gulch over from the cache in what felt like a westerly direction (wasn't really paying attention to compass) or back towards Victor direction. Then up the gully/gulch and up to the right to reach N 38 deg. 44.392, W 105.01.317. We went up on the rocks here and just admired the views. VERY serene from here. It was actually snowing slightly while we were there. We headed back down from this point (but hope to go back and head higher next time). We went down heading the opposite direction (or away from Victor) and heading over a few gully/gulch areas just picking out what looked to be the easiest route. When you reach the frozen stream area (well, it was frozen the day we hid the cache) if you head down this gully/gulch the rest of the way (put the parking lot coords. in) you will end up right back at the start of the trail! I hope you enjoy the hike as much as we did. Oh, please note, I originally intended to attach this container on a tree, so there is a screw sticking out of one end. Be careful. I left it in so the hole would remain blocked. Hey, it was the only container I had with me and I really wanted to place a cache here so others can just enjoy the amazing area. We have SO many amazing areas here in Colorado! So many places, so little free time!! Enjoy! OH, only look at the clue if you REALLY can't locate it, it's a dead giveaway. Have fun!

A ten year old cache and I'm just the 12th finder? This is a really cool area and I'll come back and explore some more when I have the time. I went too high initially but the view from up there was worth it. TFTC

Great little adventure, The road was closed at the tunnel so we parked on the West side of the construction area. That wasn't good enough for the workers, they were not happy that we had driven so close to their construction sight. We finally convinced them that we were not going to walk through the tunnel and headed up the ridge. We missed the correct gully a few times but I managed to find the cache quickly once I was in the correct area.
