CONGRATULATIONS TO CNC FOR FTF!
On October 29, 2003 a wind-whipped wildfire (the Overland Fire) raged through an area near Left Hand Canyon. In a period of one day it cindered 3,500 acres and burned 12 houses. If you reach this cache through the more realistic approaches you will cross this burn, contending with charred deadfalls and passing over stretches of scorched soils. If you plan your route correctly, you’ll pass near or directly next to another cache (Unfair View, GC262NC), so you can score on two mountain caches with a single hike. Unfair View is also surrounded by the charred firescape of the Overland Fire.

The cache container is a large pill bottle placed a couple hundred feet from the summit cairn of Point 8588, a ranked peak in Boulder County. The vial is not camouflaged. It is located in a small rock outcrop south of a solitary two-trunk living pine tree, and it should not be difficult to locate. Please rehide in the configuration you found it.

Choose a day when the weather will allow the nice vistas that can be appreciated from this summit and from the top of nearby Fairview Peak. And also take time to sign the summit register at the cairn. Enjoy your hike and the treasure you’ll find at the cache site–a cache log to sign!

Bummer! I swear I looked in every nook, cranny, and crack south of the twin pine. I came across the burned stump shown in CNC's photo, too, but no cache.

Barngineer and I got together for some back country caching today and this one was on my list to find. After finding msstrong's tribute cache, we headed to the green trees! It was nice to arrive at the cache site and have live trees after the trek through the burned area. I quickly found this one and signed it. Then we headed north for our last cache of the day. Thanks Steve for this cache, it was a nice escape from the burn area.

I almost decided to head back after lunch on Fairview Peak, but I figured I'd regret not going on to the other nearby caches. I'm glad I found this one. The log paper is unlike anything I've ever seen in a geocache. Thanks!
