Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  Significant hike  Difficult climbing  Not Available at all times  Not Recommended at night  Not Available during winter  No Park and Grab  Short hike (less than 1km)  Seasonal Access

HIKING SHOES ARE A MUST. Drive along Crystola Canyon Road (just to the south (and left of) the Crystola Bar and Grill (biker bar) in Crystola) to the best parking location, which is near a couple old, boarded up Forest Service rental cabins. As soon as you get onto the road it says "No Outlet" -- don't worry about it -- keep driving on the dirt road about a mile to the recommended parking coordinates.

Photo of Alfonso Bedoya just before speaking the most famous line of his career.

SNOW AND ICE WILL MAKE THIS CACHE VERY HARD, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, DUE TO THE STEEP CLIMB.

Approach from the west to avoid private property. We parked at N 38 57.764 W 105 02.602 when placing this cache.

The cache name comes from the film "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" with Humphrey Bogart and is one of the most often MISquoted lines in Hollywood film. In fact, we decided we would misquote it as well! Many of us have heard "We Ain't Got No Stinkin' Badges!" but that is not what is said in the popular 1948 John Huston film, nor is it what is said in Blazing Saddles.

From Wikipedia.org: In one scene, a Mexican bandit leader named "Gold Hat" (portrayed by Alfonso Bedoya) tries to convince Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) that he and his company are Federales:
Dobbs: "If you're the police where are your badges?"
Gold Hat: "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!"

And in Mel Brooks' 1974 Western Blazing Saddles, the line was delivered as "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges."

Once you reach the parking coordinates, you will realize that "We Don't Need No Stinkin' Trail!" -- because there isn't any stinkin' trail !

It is only about 850 feet from the recommended parking spot to the cache, but it is STEEP, and there are a LOT of loose rocks. However, there are NO CLIFFS OR DROPOFFS. My 7 year old son and I made the hike no problem, but had to take a few breaks on the way up.

Once parked, go east (up) and once near the top, go north to avoid the Private Property that is well marked by signs and barbed wire. The cache is on National Forest Property, and you DO NOT NEED TO CROSS ANY PRIVATE PROPERTY.

CONGRATULATIONS to campcacher for being FTF!!!

CONGRATULATIONS also go to 2/3 Marine for 2TF!!!

I probably took the hardest route to the top but did find an easier way to get down. Sheesh! It was a great climb and the cache is easy to find and in great shape but make sure that you have good grips on your shoes/boots when you tackle this hill. Had a great time....I think (lol).

Wow, we can't believe that it has been over 3 years since this cache was visited last. Last signature on the log was COpackrat on 6-15-15. We enjoyed our hike to the cache a lot. Uphill was a bit easier than downhill. We had the whole mountain to ourselves and enjoyed the views and the cache. It sure deserves a favorite. All is well with the container. Left a TB to entice more cachers to visit. Tftc.

TFTC! I think you under estimated the terrain. Good thing my every day shoe is hiking boots. Could have used some rope, carabiners and a helicopter. Just think if I feel and passed away that is where the zombie apocalypse would have started.

Fortunately this terrain lent itself to some off trail walking - there wasn't any other option! Had a nice walk up here in the morning after finding CME and the cache was in good shape. Thanks for the hide!

Rescue Daniel the TB is a go! Off we went on the anniversary of this cache being placed as the first for our day. Our mission was to save our youngest daughters travel bug was was left in this cache last October, she was super excited to get to rescue her TB and set it off on its journey again. Thanks for the and for having reinforced legs I made it up without to much issue, even if the 4 of us agreed climbing gear would of been nice to have, we made it, found a pretty cool what looks like sink hole along the way and couldn't enjoy the view of the peak more.

Found while out on another super fun cache run with K9jayhawk. Dropped a TB, and got to hear K9 speak choice words about the CO's difficult to reach Hiding locations. We took the suggested difficult route to the cache, and then I found the easier route back down. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find today! SL, TFTC!
