Not Recommended for kids  Difficult climbing  No Motorcycles  No Quads  No Off-road vehicles  Medium hike (1km-10km)

The silly little snow storm made this hide much more difficult.
Was going to place a leg of my series Rockn Raisins up on this "sun deck" but i realized it would be too difficult for that cache. So I decided to place a separate cache up there. Of course as soon as I started to climb up the snow storm hit and the snow was wet and slick. So I went back down to my pack and got my goggles. It took me three attempts to find a spot that I could actually climb up considering the conditions.
You are looking for a large prescription bottle, which is still small, pencils and log only.
If you have rock climbing skills bring them. I would guess that it is about a 5.4 or 5.5. There is a webbing anchor on the North side if you want to bring a rope or you can look for an easier way up. If you don't have the skills don't blame me for the outcome if your attempt is not successful.
This cache is dedicated to "The Vortex" cache in Sedona, AZ since it has similar characteristics.

Well I tried and tried for a ticket to the Raisins Live concert... but once I finally sold out on that, this was a bit of a pick-me-up. I found the nearly sketchy-free way up (north approach and west seams), and only once was I traversing with all weight off feet & hands-- kneeling across a shrub thicket!
At the top I turned over every last rock while working out from GZ. About 55 feet away I found the summit log in a glass bottle (placed 1999)... And Silly Storm's log sheets, a pencil or two, and the sharpener were in THAT container!!! Fortunately I had another meds bottle with me in case the elements had fully utilized the time to wreck the original, and I put the cache logs back in it at GZ. Look for a punky, very stout little Christmas tree ("with a view") at your GZ.... rocks on guard.

That is, unless someone once again finds it, thinks it's a secondary summit log, and combines the two again!!

After doing the nearby Raisin cache I thought I might try to do this one. I got to within 40-50 ft of this one to see a tall cliff that would need to be scaled. I searched for a route up and I found a couple that I thought that I might be able to traverse. However, if I was to slip then my geocaching days would be permanently over. I did leave my wife with the list of caches I was going to attempt today so someone could have come and got me, but somehow that just didn't push me to try and make an attempt. Oh well, maybe some other day.

Found this one on a silly little nice day - the lichen had pretty much dried after the previous day's storm so the footing was fine. Fun getting up here, and nice views (of course!) Cache looked like it could roll out of place, so tucked it away a little bit more securely. Thanks for another high quality placement.

This was my 2nd attempt on this cache. Last year I came and took a look at it and decided I could probably get up there, but getting back down was more risk than I would be comfortable with especially alone. So this time I brought my buddy BSharp54 with me for back-up. He climbed up and then I decided to ascend the rope. Cache was quickly spotted once on the top. It's still in good shape. Since it was perfect weather, we ate lunch and took in the views for quite awhile. Rappelled off, gathered things up, and headed back to the jeep. Great placement and a fun challenge! Thanks!
