A small cache in Ketring Park; parking is nearby, easy access via city streets and hiking / bike trails. Cache is only a few feet off a paved trail.

I located this cache to memorialize a small piece of Littleton history. In the spring of 1991, a student pilot was out for a training flight in a light aircraft with his instructor. The plane experienced engine trouble some miles west of here, and since they couldn't make it back to Centennial Airport, they were directed to attempt an emergency landing in the main field of Ketring Park. Unfortunately the flyers couldn't get their speed and elevation down in time to land there, so (still heading east) they managed to fly through the trees, the plane made a hard landing in the small meadow in the northeast corner of the park, flipped once end-over-end, and slid (upside down and tail first) into the garage of the house on the NE corner of Lakeview & Aberdeen. Fortunately no one was home at the time; meanwhile the pilots walked away from their battered craft with just scratches to show for their adventure (in the nick of time too, as the plane soon burst into flame in true cinematic style).

This cache is located at the best camoflaged spot I could find near the crash site (still, the houses to the east have a pretty fair view of the site, and there are generally people walking / playing in the park, so do be discrete).

Due to the cache’s being muggled, I've switched to an even smaller container than before -- about the size of a pill bottle. It’s also camouflaged differently, and is back in its listed location (vs. where others re-hid it).

I DNFed this Cache a couple years ago. I searched for maybe 45 minutes. All over the place. Original coords. Corrected coords. Expanding my search. Finally glad to see it wasn’t just me! Since it’s replacement I’ve been wanting to get back here.

I finally had a chance today and all the hints put me right on top of it. Glad to avenge this old DNF.

Beautiful day here. The pic is not near the coords but is a great view of the park. Thanks for bringing me here.

I'm sure it's there, just couldn't find it. There's lots of fallen leaves in the area and I couldn't find any rocks of any kind. Will try again another day. Thanks for keeping this old one going!

Flyboy is back in action, after a mid-season replacement. Also, it’s back at its listed coordinates (vs. where it wandered off to). I’ve added a few small buttons to get things rolling — bring a pencil!
