Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  Parking available  Short hike (less than 1km)

The lack of scratchy brush and expansive views make walking along Windy Ridge a pleasure, as long as it's not windy. Good luck with that!

There are several approach options. You can start your hike at a large parking area on Gold Camp Road (see waypoints). Walk down the road about 400 feet where you will find the trailhead. Join the main trail here and head uphill on the eroded trail toward the west, over the top of the ridge, and a short distance down the other side, a total distance of about 3/10 of a mile. Other options include Captain Jack's Trailheads on Gold Camp Road and High Drive. There is also a direct route up a scree slope.

From the cache, enjoy the spectacular view of Bear Creek Canyon and the mountains beyond. You may be able to spot the white flag and paraglider launch point at the peak near Alabaster Cities Gleam (GC1J72Q).

Nice looking tree...but the cache is not here.

Finished off my clockwise hike up from Sec16 parking to Captain Jacks & back, then a quick scree slide down to High Drive parking. I can't promise this would of been a dnf if I hadn't hit my head on it .... buuut ...

Finishing up the ridge line I got rained out on the other day. Came down from the rocky cache up above which was quite the interesting challenge to get to.

This is the kind of cache I expect from this cache owner, bringing you to some absolutely gorgeous country with some wickedly deformed trees due to the nature. It's like that across the way where you'll see some of the same type area that has geocaches as well.

Thanks for bringing us out here on such an absolutely gorgeous and beautifully warm day. I think I need a Kokanee beer now.

It was fitting that we found this cache on such a windy day. It was a nice hike to GZ in spite of the blowing dirt in the air. Made a quick find and signed the log. Thanks for the cache and the beautiful view from GZ.

I love your caches. Each and every one brings me to a wonderful place! I could have spent a lot of time hanging out here but I had to make it back for dinner at my grandparents' place. Thanks for the cache! Surprised no one has been here for a year and a half, all is in good shape!
