Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “p”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and to eat pie.

Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point -- but don't worry, you only need 12 digits of Pi

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Solve this Pi Sudoku for the final coordinates.

The rules are a little different from the standard sudoku, in part because the blocks are jigsaw pieces rather than 3x3, and in part because the first 12 digits of pi are used instead of the standard digits 1-9. Each row, each column and each colored jigsaw region must contain the first 12 digits of pi, including repeated numbers -- there are three 5s, two 1s, two 3s, one 2, one 4, one 6,one 8, and one 9.

The final is located at: N 39 5 R8C7.R12C3 R9C2 R10C9 W 104 5 R2C7. R10C10 R1C3 R8C6

I got most of the way to a solution, then discovered there were too many 3s in one row BlackEye. Erase and start over. I was more careful on the second attempt and got to the solution. Out today for a very nice walk -- saw a great blue heron, ducks, Canada geese, and lots of Canis Familiaris also thoroughly enjoying their walks. This is a great season to do this cache -- last year's grass has receded and this year's hasn't grown tall yet. Well... for the most part... not counting the wetter areas which always seem to be between me and GZ Smile. Fun puzzle, adding a favorite! TFTC!

I really need to get out and find puzzles I've solved - too many of them have gotten archived before I've gotten ink on the log. My mom is a sudoku genius and solved this one within a few hours of sending it too her. She didn't like being able to use a number more than once, but figured out a color coding system. It took me a bit longer to solve the puzzle, but it was good to have someone confirm I was going in the right direction when I needed it. Once I solved the puzzle, it took me forever to turn it into coordinates. Don't know why, guess I just had a feeling the hard part was over??? Anyhoo, I had to laugh when I saw the final coordinates (the CO knows why...). Finally came out today with the little one and signed the log. Thanks for the puzzle and the smiley!

Thanks for the fun puzzle cache! Solved quite awhile ago. Made the nice walk in the snow to the cache with geodog Riley. Cache is high and dry, and in great shape.

Enjoyed solving this one during covid-19 and coming out today to make the walk to the final. Nicely done. Just a little mud and a few mosquitoes otherwise a great walk. Tftc

FTF. That was quite the challenging sudoku! I was surprised to be first to solve as I am usually rather slow with them. It's really easy to make a mistake when there's multiple copies of the same digit iin the same row/col/area. My wife and I wanted to go for a walk so I chose to visit this area and spent a while wandering after finding the cache (nice hide). We saw a kingfisher, some turkeys and a pair of hawks. Thanks for the puzzle and keep them coming! Cheers.
