Did you dare to complete the Fizzy Challenge? Well,

I DOUBLE DARE YOU!

This is a Challenge Cache. The cache is at the posted coordinates. See the spoiler photo to help in your search.
This cache was originally located west of the Air Force Academy. Access to the area became more difficult following security changes at the Academy and then impossible after the Waldo Canyon fire.

I'll keep the rules for this one simple and not include any requirements for types of caches. There are 81 different combinations of difficulty and terrain ratings for caches. To complete this challenge you must find 2 of each combination. Any type of cache that you have found will qualify as long as it shows up in your stats.

There are many ways to show that you qualify for this challenge. The easiest is to allow public access to your statistics page. There is also a checker on project-gc.com. A text listing or bookmark would do the trick as well. As long as I have some way to verify that you qualify I will allow the find. Here is a snapshot of my D/T grid as an example.

The cache is rated 5/5 due to the nature of the challenge. The terrain rating for the actual cache is a 3.5. A high clearance 4WD vehicle MAY be able to make it very close to the cache but the road has some difficult rocky sections. Know your limits and try it at your own risk.

Congrats to FTF: ernie66

Our Colorado vacation began in earnest today with most of the day spent in Colorado Springs, as well as a brief jaunt up to around 10,500 feet. Just a super day.

I wasn't sure how our rental car (definitely not 4WD) would handle this ascent, but it ended up making it okay. The road actually seemed to get better after the first couple miles, which I wasn't expecting. Once at parking, we hiked between the caches as well as our sea level lungs would allow. The views at each cache were certainly worth the huffing and puffing.

Our profile shows we're well qualified for this one. I dropped an old HQ Founders Gnome tags, picturing Jeremy. But I think it might be one that doesn't have a tracking code, fwiw. TFTC!

Colorado Road Trip!

Headed out for a long weekend road trip with a small number of hand picked caches. I headed south to Topeka and then to Colorado Springs, next to Cheyenne and Rapid City before heading home. I camped most of the way when I could find campgrounds. The scenery was incredible and the hikes in the mountains worth the trip. All these caches made the trip worth every minute!

This is the reason I still cache. I don't know what I like better, the view or Fizzy's?! I was staying with a few locals and told them where I was heading, she said, "drive fast over the bumps!" I had no idea what was ahead of me. I got up early and headed out for Old Stage Road. When the blacktop ended I thought, no big deal. It was around 6700 feet and I did noty know where this road would take me. My Nuvi wanted me to take the Beaver Road really bad, lol I'm glad I did not! I followed Old Stage Road for 13ish miles to the parking area. The road just kept going up and up until I parked at 10,000 feet elevation. I jumped out and gathered my hiking things and some water. I picked the two on the left first and headed up the old washed out mountain road. I saw the tire treads and could not believe that someone drove up so close to the caches.

I saw the first rock out crop and headed straight at the target. The cache was 80 feet away but 150 feet above me. I walked to the north a bit and climbed up the bolders until I reached the top. It may have been much easier to walk all the way around and come from the back. I had fun so no worries. I recognized the rock from the picture and just sat down and enjoyed the moment. Again, this is the reason I geocache. The caches take me on these hikes that I love the best. I grabbed the cache and signed in. I took many pictures and memories with me as I headed to the next cache.

I worked my way up the hill over the granite ledge and then to the next rock out crop. This time I headed around to find an easier way up. I found a natural set of stairs and climbed up the back side of the boulders. I worked my way about 150 feet to the frongt ledge and found the cache container. Again I just sat down and enjoyed what was in front of me. All of my worries were just gone at this very moment, I had a snack and some water and then headed back down toward my car. (Did I mention it was a Scion tC?)

About 0.20 from my car I headed over the creek up the next hill. I found a road and a small trail up and the next hugh pile of boulders appeared. I found this one much easier to climb up on top. I worked my way from boulder to boulder until I was right next to the cache. I reached in a grabbed the container and was a bit sad at this point because there was not another one to climb. I inked in and put the container back nice and snug. While standing on the fron of the boulders a white Toyota Sequoia came driving through the hills and park just underneath me. I packed up and headed back to my car. I popped out on the road about 0.10 from my car.

I absolutely love Colorado and this is the best trip I ever had. These three caches are the best journeys I have ever had. If I could give them 500 favorite points I would! Thanks for the destination and all your work finding these perfect spots for me to explore.

Thanks WingsAndTales for the cache!

We signed the log last November, but had a few squares to fill before we met the requirements for this challenge. We filled the last two squares of our Double Fizzy yesterday while caching on Blodgett Peak. A screenshot of our D/T grid is attached. Thanks for the fun challenge cache.

I Can remember thinking that I would never fill the fizzy grid even once let alone twice. My stats to qualify are on my public profile. Thanks for a great outing and adventure!

I knew where this one was going to be after having found the Triple, and sure enough it needed a bit of a scramble to get to GZ from that direction, loved the views from up here, but the fantastic drive is one I won't forget in a hurry. A shortage of Favourite points mean that its the Triple that got one, but this is equally deserving.

We cached from the trails off Gold Camp Road today, focusing on some challenges, puzzles, and RTPs. All containers and logs are in great shape. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. We don't quite qualify for this challenge cache yet, but signed the log since we were in the area.

Whilst attending a conference in the US I had some extra time to do some geocaching. This took me to Denver, Colorado Springs and even into Kansas to log the worlds oldest cache currently available. Some of the caches were really tough due to the hiking involved at (for me) fairly high altitude. These include some 5/5 challenges west of Colorado Springs at 3200m and some around Pikes Peak at ca 4300m.
I’d like to take this general opportunity thank all the cache owners for their caches (whether traditional, mystery, wherigo, virtual, multi or earth) and I will add further comments on individual caches. TFTCs!
Completed 15 (16?) fizzy rounds.
