Congratulations to Geocaching.com for surpassing the one million active caches milestone! I've even seen a geocoin at the last event honoring this momentous achievement. See the Related Web Page link at the top of this page. When I began caching in May 2004 there were just under 100,000 active caches in the world. I thought that was an incredible number back then. It took four years to reach that milestone and now just less than six years later and another 900,000 (plus) caches later we once again celebrate something that almost seems incomprehensible. I don't know how they do it but there are several million cachers out there who are glad they can keep up with the insanity of it all.
Located on a ridge not too far off the Palmer Trail.
Okay, let me see what I have in my backpack that I might be able to use to put together a cache on short notice. Here's a hard yellow plastic First Aid Kit I can use after I empty its contents. Now I need a log, hmmmm, oh, here are some 3x5 index cards. And I just happen to have a plastic baggie and some small trinkets, and a pen! Did I mention that I was doing all this at over 8,000 feet while on a snow packed trail after finding two new caches along this very same ridge? Now I just need one more thing, a nice little hiding spot. This will do nicely for my purposes and I'll even throw in a hint so it won't be too difficult. After all, there was some effort expended just to get to GZ. Have fun!
10/20/2017 By GoMRT I knew a guy named Palmer who the CO may know. Nice guy, smart man and ardent Red Sox fan. So much so the rumor is he colored his wife's arm cast one time in the Red Sox logo. Sure he is not happy with the latest Red Sox playoff bouncing either.
If you listened to Palmer, you would learn a thing or two. I know I did when our paths crossed. He was once a voracious Geocacher too according to legend and lore. Given you can read some of his crazy logs, it sure sounds like he knew what he was doing. Wonder, is he still caching at the same breakneck pace or has he slowed? One wonders....
Came across this cache today underneath the burnt fir tree (there is your clue update by the way cachers) that once housed it so well with boughs of fir. The log was wet, but usable nonetheless even with fall and winter snow yet to come. Protected by the rocks you would think that would help, the cache sits away in a dark space waiting for the next cacher to come by and log it.
Thanks for the cache CO for we are now triple the number of caches on Terra Firma this one celebrates. I shall bestow a fav point on this one too...

09/25/2016 By SnailMan1 Looks like we are approaching 3 million active caches. TFTC.
07/11/2015 By SwimFin SwimFin found this cache quickly and in good shape (once I got to the area). Left a signature dolphin key chain. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache. Cheers, SwimFin!
05/30/2015 By MountainBear Found with Java Chip. We approached from Rampart Road. We've always wanted to get over to the palmer trail to see the views and they were amazing! TFTC!
