This cache can be found on the Queen's Canyon ridgeline.

This is not a heavily-traveled or well-developed trail – it is more like a diamond in the rough – a trail with views that are fit for a Queen. When I placed this cache, there were many ways to get to the ridgeline, but the Waldo Canyon fire changed all that. There is a private property gate across the normal access. If you can get to the Scar, you will be on National Forest Service land. You can also come in from Blodgett. Please feel free to log your suggested routes and waypoints. It is possible to access the cache by going through private property, owned by the Navigators...home to the Glen Eyrie castle, and I can send one possible route upon request. The castle was built in the late 1800s by the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer. Queen's Canyon is named after General Palmer's wife, Mary, whom he called the "Queen of his life."

***Congrats to SuperDolph for his FTF on 03/06/10***

A cache by one of my favorite geocachers, a Queen herself for what she has given to the hobby, and all around nice person.

The clue is a clue that could be applicable to so many locations up on the ridge given the Waldo Canyon fire that swept through. Fortunately, I was able to locate the cache knowing the CO's previous hides and patterns easily enough. That was actually helpful because it was sizzling up on the rocks today with no shade to cool off in!! The sun beating down on the hill was roasty toasty as I like to say. With no shade to hide in, burnt trees tend to do that, you could not just wait to sit there and relax. Had to keep moving! The hike up was nice and invigorating to say the least too!! The canyon below was interesting to see from above. Maybe one day I will get there.

The Queen up on the hill up high looks good for the rest of fall and winter months. The log was a touch damp, but usable no less. Oh, I think the Queen probably scheduled the fly by too that I witnessed today during the search. C-17s coming around the peak and showing off!!

Thank you Estes for the cache today, now take your crown, bouquet of flowers and show the world what a great Queen looks like while hunting for the next geocache in her cachemobile!!

Found with Java Chip. We approached from Rampart Road. We've always wanted to get over to the palmer trail to see the views and they were amazing! TFTC!
