Another Lone Star Snowshoe Trail cache.
A moderate/hard winter hike of about 3 miles round trip with an elevation gain of roughly 535+ feet. The cache is hidden at just under the 10,000 foot level and about 75 feet from the Lone Star Snowshoe Loop Trail. The trail is not groomed but it is well marked with orange diamonds.

You will be looking for a standard ammo can with a log book, pen and pencil, and a variety of trading items. The cache is about 4 feet off the ground and so it should be easily accessible. Enjoy the panoramic views!

Grabbed the smiley on the snowshoe back to Nordic Center after an overnight at Tennessee Mountain Cabin. Nice to combine snowshoeing & caching! Didn't sign log because couldn't open quickly enough for my fellow (impatient) snowshoer. Looks like cache-owner checked on it today too- probably saw all my tracks

We did the complete loop plus the side trail to Tennesee Mtn Cabin. About 5 hours of snowshoeing. Found the cache no problem and had a snack and took pictures nearby. Enjoyed the hike and the cache, thanks!
One of Colorado's many majestic mountains!

Sepfind and I have been planning on doing this forever. The Nordic Area does not allow hiking, even in the summer, so we decided to do a snowshoe adventure. The weather was sunny, warm and just a bit breezy - not nearly as windy as it was when I got home. We had a great time. And it's always nice to find an ammo can.

This was our second cache that we found while snowshoeing on the Lone Star Loop trail, on a perfect Colorado day. One of the main reasons that we did this cache was to rescue the TB nun that had been stranded here since 2008! After we found the cache, we sat on some logs and ate our lunch, while admiring the very scenic view. It took us 3-1/2 hours to get to this cache, taking the loop trail in a clockwise direction from the Nordic center. Some of the way, we were breaking trail, and we did stop for a couple "snack" breaks, and found Mondo's first snowshoe cache just east of here. Thanks for a great adventure today, Mondo.

Such a difficult cache for a cacher to maroon my travel bug in. Any chance the traveler can be moved on given that it's successfully sat now for over a year? Will the next cacher to find this cache check to see if the travel bug is actually there, and if so... Move It On - Please!
