Dangerous Animals  Medium hike (1km-10km)

This is our first cache placement and our daughter (#4 of the COfab4 crew) has decided to take ownership of this one with the theme, naming, story and placement of the cache.  Below is her story of the double trouble...

Double the cat, double the fur, double the mess, double the trouble. On a Friday in January of 2017, my two little kittes were adopted. They were found on the street at only a few weeks old and were taken to a foster home where they spent a few months before getting adopted by a family with younger children. Lets just say it ended with the cats back at the foster home within a week.  They sat for a few more months until we showed up.  We looked at many cats but none of them were a fit for us until we came upon the two little black cats. We took them home less then a week after we met them. We ended up naming the cats Wall-E and Eva from the movie Wall-E. The first two weeks were very hard for the cats because I just wanted to pet them and hold them and look at them but they weren't ready. Wall-E was terrified of everybody until the third week where I was the first one to make him purr. Then I was the first to hold both of the cats. We recently hit the four year milestone of owning them and they turn five in August 2021.

I picked the placement of this cache to be near cattails to honor our recent four years of owning the two little goofballs (and I love cattails).

Happy caching!!

We just love this game and hope to bring some fun and nature to your day.

CONGRATS TO coloReido FOR THE FTF ON OUR 1ST CACHE!!!

TFTC! That didn’t take as much time as I feared, thanks to the eagle eye of Mdk07. Tons of potential spots for it to be hiding in. Thanks for the fun hide and for bringing me here! Fun place to walk.

That was surprisingly fast, I happened to come upon the right spot among the many places it could be. Excellent location! It’s good to be back on this trail again.

Too pretty a day to stay inside and a couple caches in this open space were calling my name, so I decided to give this one a try. Lots of potential hiding places, but persistence paid off. Signed log. Thanks for the walk and the cache! Nice tribute to the kitties!

Today was a happy milestone for us - we received our second vaccine !! To celebrate we met our good friends Larry and Amy for some Starbucks. Then Larry "casually" mentioned we could join him to search for a cache that was giving him some trouble. Turns out he just needed moral support because he was the one who actually found it ! We are more dog lovers than cat lovers as you might guess from our name but enjoyed your story of how you found your cats. Thanks for the cache !

DNF avenged!! Today we enlisted the help of 2lablovers on an attempt to redeem ourselves. 2lablovers find nearly every cache when we are together, so I knew our chances were good that this container would soon be in hand. We were the only cars in the lot, so no chance of meeting other helpers along the trail. We headed out and chatted about handball, racquet ball, and tennis until we arrived at the GZ. We scoured the host until BINGO! We made the find. After stamping and signing the log I went to put it back into the container. I caught a glimpse of something falling from the container. SWAG? TB? Dunno. I dug through the grass and was about to concede defeat when I found it. I went to show the SWAG to George and I dropped it AGAIN! Back to searching. George had a tool that helped me retrieve the bitty thing and I put it into the container before I could mess up again. We tucked everything back where it belongs and then headed back toward the cars - socially distanced caching means no car pooling. As we worked our way around the mud and snow George told me about running 50k (That's not a typo five zero) races in his 40's. Amazing. I really respect this couple and am proud to call them my friends. Glad they drag their pudgy little friend around to help him avenge DNFs. Great adventure and fun in the plains.
Now, to the kitties. I love animals and would probably have a zoo if my wife let me. We have kitties and love their lap warming and consoling abilities. Pic is of Blue on my lap and Scratch on the backrest of the couch.
Thanks for the cache!

I initially spent time raking around the rotten wood when I considered the hint and changed tactics. I scanned over the pile from an elevated position and spotted it! Sure blends in well! Thank you for the placement

Looked for almost an hour. Couldn't find it. TFTC.

STF (yah). Been in Antelope many times so knew about where GZ was. Trod up through the snow and looked a few minutes and made the find. Signed and replaced and then trod all the way back to the car. TFTC!

Loved the story of the kitties. I'm fond of black cats. Unfortunately we weren't able to find the container today.

Mine! More later...

LATER: I saw this one publish the night before, and set my alarm early. When that alarm went off and seeing this one still wasn't found, I packed up my gear and headed out the door. It was a little assuring that there were no other cars in the parking lot -- I had the place to myself. The car thermometer read 29°F and it was only then that I realized I dropped my glove somewhere. Oh well, I wasn't going back -- there is a FTF still up for grabs!

This is one of my favorite spots in Aurora, and this morning didn't disappoint as I spotted a herd of about 20 deer and two coyotes during my sunrise hike. I may have been down one glove, but I was glad I made the right choice with my footwear as the icy creek crossing was made much easier. Lots of spots to hide at GZ but I did spot one thing that was slightly out of place. This one blends in well, and I'm sure glad I didn't pursue this one last night with a flashlight. After signing the blank log, I replaced it just a little better.

I am a firm believer that we don't adopt cats; they pick us! I am honored to be FTF on your first cache which is also a tribute to the troublesome twins :) tft and the FTF prize! A favorite point for the location, experience, and giving me an extra incentive to get outside!
