This is actually in Arapahoe County, barely! I can see the Douglas County border from here...
This old farm has stories to tell... During the 1860s and 1870s, gold-seekers and settlers flocked to Colorado's Rockies, many of them passing by this farm on the Cherokee and Smoky Hill trails. Early owners operated an inn here - one of six "mile houses" along the Cherry Creek. How much farther to the frontier town of Denver? Just 17 miles to Colfax and Broadway.

There are Open House and Historical Tours at this location as well, courtesy of Cherry Creek Historical Society and Friends of 17 Mile House. Dates and Times are located on site or here, otherwise by appointment only. Feel free to come by anytime (Dawn to Dusk) and learn more history using the posted signs along the path. The pathways are wheelchair accessible; the cache is not, sorry. This site is also connected to the Cherry Creek Trail if you want to continue your caching adventure.
There are information signs for the House, Windmill "Eclipse", Barn, Silo, Milk House, Loafing Shed, and Windmill "Dempster". Don't be surprised if a new Wherigo pops up soon to give you a guided tour...

As I said, hours are Dawn to Dusk but the cache is available 24-7. Be aware of private property boundaries (clearly marked). Dogs must be on a leash. Parking is available, including two wheelchair accessible spots. In heavy traffic, accessing this heading North will give you a turn lane. Heading South does not have a dedicated lane. Please post photos if you'd like! Other than that, ENJOY!!!
FTF Honors to 2lablovers!
I did some more research on this area and there are grand plans for its future. Visit this link and you can see the layout on pages 34-35. There will be live animals, weddings, etc...
