Dogs  Not Recommended for kids  Takes more than an hour  Scenic view  Medium hike (1km-10km)

This cache is placed close to the summit of Point 7,655, one of the 255 Ranked Peaks in Larimer County. Point 7,655 rises north of the Cherokee Park Road, and views from its summit are marvelous. Because of its position immediately south of the spectacular Turkey Roost, it offers perspectives of the roost that are missed from all other viewing angles. So make the relatively easy hike to this peak to collect a fun cache, and also enjoy the viewshed seen so advantageously from this location! You might even see a turkey roost!

Park along the Cherokee Park Road at N 40 53.000 W 105 25.200, about 1/3 mile west of the boundary sign for Roosevelt National Forest. Go over or under the old fence and hike directly north to the summit. Round trip is about 1.9 miles, and you’ll make an elevation gain of about 800 feet. Take food and water. If you prefer a less steep route, park in the same location and hike toward the peak. When you reach the dirt road follow it west and then north toward Turkey Roost, eventually turning back east to a saddle between Turkey Roost and Point 7,655. Go south off-trail from this saddle to the summit. If you return via this ascent route the round trip mileage for this option is about 4 miles. Alternatively, appreciate the full environment of the area by making a loop that involves both options for a total distance of less than 3 miles.

The cache container is a camoed, large pill bottle. It’s placed in a nook under some rocks. The location is south of the actual summit. Coordinates were averaged and are accurate. Have fun with this one!

CONGRATULATIONS TO PRISCILA AND DOGLOVER3PUPS FOR FTF!! I'm sure that Priscila did the real work. And thank you for remembering Denali Queen on your find. She was with me on this peak twice before her unfortunate death on the Matterhorn. I'm still grieving.

Dropped in for some much needed hiking with the dog. Checked the weather beforehand, it called for less than an inch all day, so we rolled out. Glad to see Denali in some way shares my the quickest trail must be the shortest trail enthusiasms. Broke a good sweat getting up to this one, and really stretched out those leg muscles. Continued on from here to Turkey Roost.

Always a pleasure cachin with poudrecacher, especially in the hills! Not a cloud in the sky today and the only muggle around was a turkey vulture soaring overhead that surley saw what we were up to. Thanks Denali 41 for replacing this cache, a favorite for sure! Coords right on and cache in good shape. TFTC
