As a Broncos fan, there was nothing sweeter than the Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers. I imagine for the rest of the 100+ Million viewers it may have been a bit underwhelming. This super bowl broke all kinds of records, but mostly for the LACK of offense and the strength of both defenses. In fact the dominant performance by Von Miller earned him a rare MVP award for a Defensive player in a Super Bowl. Von had two strip-sacks that resulted in a defensive touchdown and set up the game-winning touchdown. The Broncos Defense was without doubt one of the greatest of all time. With the Denver offense having a historically bad day the Defense managed to stop one of the best offenses in football to win the game single-handedly.Take a moment to soak in the following astounding Super Bowl stats.

  • A big key to the Bronco victory was keeping the Panthers in 3rd and Long situations all game. The Broncos (1-of-14) and Panthers (3-of-15) combined to convert only 13.8 percent of their third-down chances. The combined third-down conversion rate was a record low for a Super Bowl.
  • Manning's 2.9-yard average per pass attempt on third down is the lowest by a Super Bowl-winning quarterback since Tom Brady averaged 1.6 against St. Louis in Super Bowl XXXVI.
  • The Broncos 194 total yards and 11 first downs were both the lowest totals ever by a Super Bowl winning team.
  • Only seven other teams had ever gained less than 200 yards in a Super Bowl, and all of them had lost.
  • The Broncos' seven sacks tied a Super Bowl record set by the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX.
  • Peyton Manning became the oldest quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl at age 39, and the only quarterback to do it with two different teams.
  • Von Miller had six total tackles (five solo), 2˝ sacks, and two forced fumbles.
  • With the Super Bowl 50 win, Peyton Manning became the only quarterback ever to win 200 games.
  • McManus made all four of his field goals, making him perfect on all 11 attempts during the post-season.
  • In the 2nd quarter Broncos receiver Jordan Norwood received a short 28-yard punt, and none of the Panthers attempted to make a tackle, assuming Norwood had called a fair catch. He took off for a Super Bowl record 61-yard return to the Panthers 14 yard line

As I continue trying to add to my geostreak, I am becoming increasingly fond of mystery caches as those are some of the few caches remaining along my normal routes. I knew I'd need to travel this way to get to work in the afternoon so set out to solve the football mystery. Admittedly, I am not very familiar with the sport (though was at my boyfriend's house during Super bowl 50 so remember the excitement!) so this mystery took a bit more deciphering admittedly but it was quite fun. The hide took a minute to locate but fortunately was rather muggle free. Thanks for the hide and the mystery itself!

Solved this one while the kids played in the park, got some great food with some friends, then made the grab. TFTC Sapper489

This is the third time we have been here to get this one. The first time was December 31st it was freezing and snowing. The second time it was hot as the dickens. Today it’s over cast with wind but some how we finally found it! So happy! Enjoyed doing this puzzle because I am a Broncos fan and remember the orange crush!
