A Bit of History

On November 29, 1864, the Colorado U.S. Cavalry attacked the Cheyenne and Arapaho village near sand creek.

Most of this army was made up of volunteers. The rest was under the command of Captain Silas Soule and Lieutenant Joseph Cramer.

Both men commanded their experienced troops to not attack. If it was not for them, then very few Cheyenne and Arapaho would have escaped.

Congrats to ???? on FTF!

I am doing a little road trip from Boise around northeast Colorado, and catching corners of Kansas and Nebraska. Thanks so much for being a part of it!

Found cache. Took a sick day from work to come geocache eastern Colorado - been a while since have been to this part of the state. Surprised to see more snow in Kansas than this part of Colorado, but not complaining.

Been watching this new cache for a bit now after accidently discovering it while conducting a map recon of area. Figured that someone local would have made the FTF by now, but glad that no one did. Wanted to come out here last weekend, but a snow-storm-of -doom came through Kansas back then and canceled trip.

Watched this cache all week and decided to come chase after it if not found by Thursday evening. Made the trip from Junction City, KS, and geocached the entire trip. Finally arrived site today roughly 12:00PM and made the quick enough find!!!

This was my very 1st FTF in the great state of Colorado - gets the favorite point for that fact!!! Went on down to the Sand Creek Massacre site afterwards, but renovations were going on so Ranger TERI gave me a excellent class about the incident and area.

Anyway, cache in good shape. TN/LN/SL.
