Rappahannock

In 1607, the Rappahannock were the dominant tribe of the Rappahannock River valley, maintaining thirteen villages along the north and south banks of the river that bears their name. The Rappahannock People first met Captain John Smith at their capital town "Topahanocke" on the banks of the river bearing their name, in December 1607. In an effort to solidify their tribal government in order to fight the state for their recognition, the Rappahannocks incorporated in 1921.In 1998, they elected the first woman chief to lead in Virginia since the 1700s, Chief G. Anne Richardson. Currently, the tribe is working on acquiring Federal Recognition, with six other Virginia tribes.

An easy find as I am back in the Denver area on business. It has been sprinkling most of today so the road is pretty muddy and the area is really wet but I was able to make it through the borrow ditch to find the container.

Headed out with Joe Friday today with the goal of finding at least 100 caches to earn the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. It was a hot day, but we got it done. Almost all of the caches were quick finds, with containers in good shape and well maintained logs. Not sure how we had so many unfound caches about a half hour from home, but glad we did as it allowed us to get the souvenirs fairly easily. Thanks for all of the fun placements!
