Head up Poudre Canyon over Cameron Pass into the heart of moose country. A short distance past mile marker 56, pull over on the right and park in front of the historic Penfold Store...the oldest building still standing in Gould!
We've placed this cache with a ski theme here in Gould along SH 14 in honor of our friend and fellow geocacher, Georgie, because of his love for skiing in 'The Boat' and also for finding his 500th cache. Please maintain the winter sports theme if you add any items...thanks!

Jay Penfold built this general store in the 1920's. This early settlement was first known as Penfold, but it was later renamed Gould in honor of the Eddy Gould family that homesteaded in this area back in the late 1800's. The Michigan River Timber Company rented space in the Penfold Store and opened a cookhouse. The river across the highway in the willows is the Michigan River. The MRTC timbered in and around Gould from 1936-1953 before moving over to the Rand area.

Today we are driving through some very interesting parts of Colorado...isn't it all?! Glad to knock off a few more DeLorme pages and counties... this one gave us Page 18. After coming down from Walden on Highway 14 and getting this cache we returned on CR27 to Rand and Highway 125. It's a very good gravel road. Dropped a couple of TBs here. TFTFun poudrecacher
