This cache is in the shadows of St. Peter's Dome. Some say that St. Peter's shadow has miraculous healing powers and we invite you to try it for yourself.

You are looking for a metal cylinder hanging in a tree. The cache is on a ridgetop that can be used as a shortcut if you are proceeding further down the road.

The Dome has long been known as a rich mining area. There was once a plethora of Pegmatite mines surrounding the Dome, and it is still possible to find semi-precious stones such as zircon, amazonite, and green fluorite.

Gold Camp Road was originally a railroad, known as the "Short Line," built for hauling ore from Cripple Creek to the Golden Cycle Mill in Colorado Springs. Trains ran from 1901 to 1920. It then operated as a scenic toll road until 1936, when it was deeded to the U.S. Forest Service. The trestles were removed and fill was brought in to maintain travel. It became one of the most popular scenic roads in the state. In 1998, Tunnel 3 collapsed and an 8-mile stretch has been closed ever since.

What a lovely fall day to go up into the hills today and go see some, um, ghosts maybe or dragons perhaps. Easily found my way down to the cache, signed the log with a very sharp pencil within, and made my way off to the next cache, but not before finding the real treasure of the cache trip - a loo! (See attached photo)

Thank you to the CO and her compadres for placing a loo out in the middle of the forest on the side of a hill for all cachers to use as needed. Concrete foundation, metal edging, real wood seat. It is a beaut! Just needs the latest Sears Christmas Wish Book too...oh wait, Sears just filed for bankruptcy, so it won't be coming to a loo near you. Last stop before the dragon, so you go now or hold it until we get there!

Went out for a drive with Lemonhead mafia. He hadn't been on this portion of gold camp road so we decided to hike in and explore. Today we were in St Peter's shadow. Next time we'll hike the dome! Sl, thanks!

Brought my bike with me to get some caches along Gold Camp Road, and this was one of them. Thanks for the hide!

We were hiking back to the car after finding Year of the Dragon and decided to grab this one as well. Made a tactical error and climbed to the cache from the north side - that was tough after a long day of hiking. Made the find (after catching our breath!) and signed the log. Thanks for the cache.
