Today I went on an expedition to the Arvada/North Golden area to grab geocaches with @2lablovers . They are great to cache with and are usually willing to join me at Sonic for a half price shake after we are done. We took a walk along the western edge of Blunn Reservoir and to get the caches along the trail. On our way back, at dusk, we heard an owl in the distance. I looked up and saw something silhouetted in the top of a dead tree. As we closed in, we saw that it was indeed the owl. We watched him watching us for a while. Tried to take a pic, but he was too far away in the darkness. Next we headed over to Pattridge Open Space. Our day ended a little further south with a rattlesnake scare.
We were a little jumpy grabbing this one. At the last cache we got a little too close to a rattlesnake in the night. But this one was safe and secure. I grabbed the TB inside. No problems with the cache. TFTC!

Great afternoon for a stroll around the lake.
Hardest part was finding a place to park.
Saw Western Grebes, 2 Bald eagles and a Coyote.
Love this tree!
Thanks for showing the area.

We are out in some much needed rain and caching in the cool. We love native cottonwoods and we see a huge one by the path.

Beautiful tree. Too bad it is so busted up.
