Since I did a geocache in honor of my daughter, GC67GB3, of course I had to do one in honor of my son! And as much as she was a miracle, so is he! Both had different journeys to our family but both are incredible blessings from God!!

So here you go - a puzzle that honors my football loving son!

Although I'm a football fan, I'm not overly fanatic like some are. Growing up in the Bay Area I loved the 49ers and remember many of their glory years. But upon moving to Colorado I couldn't help but become a Broncos fan. As my son grew up though, he couldn't have cared less about football. That is until the Broncos were in the Super Bowl. Much to my chagrin though it was during that game that he became a die hard Seahawks fan... And he still is to this day and he loves being the outsider! He has definitely become a football fanatic and loves collecting football cards. Some of his cards are what I used for the puzzle below. (I do realize the picture isn't 100% clear - hence the higher difficulty!)

Cache container has room for small swag and trackables!

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Congrats to PayMeCache and Animjason on the FTF!

 Hints

[Puzzle]North is straight forward. West is almost straight forward but you'll have to do two very simple math operations (same operation in both cases).

[Cache] Decent hike and you will go off trail a bit to get to the final. Tucked away nicely at the base of a tree.

One of a few puzzles I am able to solve which I had done several months ago. I’ve been putting off finding it though until I needed it. Today was it. Easy find & fun.

I solved the puzzle awhile ago. Finally I decided to get it. An 8 mile hike total from my home.
There was still snow on the ground, but I was lucky: The lid was peeking out of the snow. So a relatively easy cache Smile

Herndonrd has commented about this cache on more than one occasion. In particular, he has repeatedly lamented how, on the day he found this one, construction kept him from the posted parking coordinates and he had a much longer hike than the norm.

Fast forward to today. I arrived at the parking coordinates to find signs for a trail detour and beautiful new roads heading straight towards the cache. I was able to parj about a third of a mile from the final (as the crow flies anyway). I thought of herndonrd as I hopped out of my geo-hoopty and smiled.

Ok. I smirked.

Fine. I chuckled softly.

If you must know, I laughed like a maniacal hyena hunting its prey.

Moving on.

I enjoyed this puzzle and am giving it a favorite point for multiple reasons. I am a 49er fan so the puzzle theme was easy and fun. The combination of difficulty and terrain gets me one step closer to completing the Mile High Unknow Fizzy Challenge (only 11 puzzles to go). The placement was as advertised and I gave up only a little blood getting to it. Lastly, finding a puzzle today helps with another puzzle (canned language about my insanity to follow).

I chose today to look for this one because I signed an insane challenge in California that requires me to find a puzzle cache on every calendar day of the year (save February 29th) in order to meet the logging requirements. I had no trouble finding this one and I am thrilled to be one day closer to completing the challenge, though I still have roughly seventy days to go. Thanks for the fun puzzle, hide, and for getting me outside on such a gorgeous day.

My 18 mile bike ride brought me to this cache today at 1253 pm when I made the find. Thanks for the cache and for making my route more fun!

I solved the puzzle quite some time ago but finally made it to the cache today. The listed TB is not in the cache.

Thanksgiving hike. Got stuck on one person but got some help and it was a green light soon after. Cache is in good shape. Thanks!

An Uncertain Journey. I was so excited to have solved this puzzle that I couldn't wait to find the cache... today on the first snow of October. I felt like Bilbo Baggins on an adventure of three (actually just me). There is construction at the trail head. Basically a long mud pit. First cache on the trail is gone to construction. Second was inside a snow covered bush. I didn't search for long. Headed down the trail and saw a shortcut on the map. Always a good idea in a snowstorm, right? I fumbled along to continue in pursuit of the holy cache. Arrived at the snowy GZ and resorted to searching on my hands and knees through 3" of snow. Eventually, I spotted a tree basin which looked like it could gave been from Middle Earth. A few handfuls of snow and I had the cache in my hand. But, alas, the mighty ring (travel bug) has gone missing. Signed the log and headed back. I didn't realize until 300' of so, that I lost my Lembas (sunflower seeds) during the knee crawl for the cache. Oh well. Food for the creatures of the forest. For me, this was a preview to winter caching. GAME ON! Tftc!

Signed the log, left the football cards and traded Canadian for US quarter.

Be advised that the normal parking spot is gone and you will have to park farther away. Hike will be longer and somewhat harder than Google maps would leave you to believe. Hike is now over 1 mile each way- bring water and maybe your bike!
