Day 2 of an epic 6 day journey out to the western frontier. I had some vacation time that I needed to burn up by the end of the year, and what better way to use it than to go Geocaching! My main goal was to find caches in New Mexico and Nevada, which would complete my map in the western US. The rest of the 4 remaining states are on the East Coast. Secondary goals were to find oldies, mostly virtuals, and high favorited caches. The only bad part of the trip was that it rained every single day of my vacation.
I headed south out of MN on Sunday and returned home on Friday.
Sunday - Drive all the way through to Colorado (15 hours!)
Monday - Cache in and around Denver and Colorado Springs
Tuesday - Head south towards GC19 and then west through Wolf Creek Pass
Wednesday - Four Corners monument and west towards Nevada
Thursday - After a night in Richfield, UT, head east through the skiing areas of Colorado towards Nebraska
Friday - The long drive home
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for me to find and for keeping the oldies going all these years.

It was still dark on this early morning stop to visit this Virtual Cache. When I went to read the sign I hope that I quickly understood the bonus question without having to google it. “Lest We Forget”. I haven’t heard from the C/O yet so I am logging this a a find.

MPLC

Our English is not perfect, we use Google Translate to help us ...
Our journey began last August 22 and will take us to visit twelve US states and two Canadian provinces ... Our departure was from Baie-Comeau, a city on the North Shore of Quebec and then continue for a few days in Quebec City where we did some Geocaching .... Then we stopped at St-Eustache and Ville de Laval, still in Quebec, and then flew to Portland, Oregon... We made stop in Umatilla on August 28 still in Oregon, August 29 in Boise, Idaho, August 30 in Twin Falls and August 31st we are in Salt Lake City for two days... The 2nd of september we were in Rock Springs. Wyoming and yesterday the road brought us to Laramie, Wyoming... Today our trip will take us to Colorado Springs where we will stay for two days
Throughout the trip we have targeted some caches that will help us achieve our personal goals and we will certainly discover new places that Geocachers here will want us to discover ... We have been planning this trip for several months and know we will not be able to not all see for lack of time ... There are many caches but we must close our eyes can not find them all ... But it is with pleasure that we will put our signature on some of them ...
Thank you for creating these caches that add smiles to our profile and make us have a good time regardless of the mood of Mother Nature ... Our log will be the same for the whole day and if there is a particularity we will add it at the beginning of the text ... Favorites will be added here and there for all the work done ... TFTC

Visiting from Phoenix Arizona and heading up to Fort Collins for a few days. I am always looking out for Virtuals and this was close and worthy of a stop. I enjoyed checking out this site and reading about what occurred here. Thank you for creating this Virtual for us to discover. My answers will be sent.

This was a very interesting historical virtual. That’s one thing I love about caching, is that you can learn lots. Thank you for this cache. Met LASouthpaw here. Always good to meet up with other cachers.

I went out caching with GanderGoose and Sqweeter after an event this morning. I had to head back home, and my GPS took me this way. As a rule, I don't drive by Virtuals and decided to stop. I was pretty surprised to see some other people there. As I approached, I thought I heard the two ladies talking about one of the answers. I asked if they were geocachers and sure enough, one of them was. It was #1Beefers, who caches with GanderGoose quite a bit! We laughed and compared notes before heading our separate ways. I've already sent answers to the CO. Thanks for the virtual!

I ended up on an epic adventure with yellowdogs and jREST. I really wanted to go and find GC19. So, I picked a five day stretch to make my attempt. I roped in a couple of caching friends into the misadventure and we were off with my two geodogs. The five of us made an interesting group. We drove over 3000 miles on the trip going out and back. Since we enjoy the same types of caches it was easy to come up with a list. We target the three main kinds of caches: oldies, virtuals, and earthcaches. We threw in a few others mainly to grab a cache in the 72 counties we headed through. Really got to light up that county map. Ended up with 152 caches in the found pile.
The first night was a little rough. We got a late start and headed into some heavy rain. We already had a hotel reserved in Sioux City, IA; so we knew we had to get there. Found one cache to fill the day in for me. The first day was spent caching our way across northern Nebraska. We had a line of counties that we wanted to grab. Some pretty country once you get further west. It is always nice to see the varied topography of the states we visit. After finding 35 caches, we called it a night in Scotts Bluff.
Day 2 dawned sunny, but cool. We wanted to get past Denver, but our route was longer than anticipated. So we ended up a little short. Got to see some interesting spots though. We hit the high point in Nebraska, cached along a lonely stretch of highway in Colorado, picked up some virtuals in the Denver area, before heading into the mountains for the Cache Across America. We continued exploring the mountains before finding a place to sleep for the night west of Denver.
On the third day, we made it into Denver after some virtuals and then headed south through the mountains to GC 19. We made it. The road was open and the weather perfect. Lots of warnings about the fire danger. We picked up a few other caches and even took a detour into New Mexico so yellowdogs could light up the state. Nice. I love it when a plan comes together.
Day 4 found us in Trinidad. We had a long way to go and a short time to get there. Luckily, at this point the route was pretty straight forward. We headed north roughly to Nebraska. We did take a detour to grab GC31. I already had it, but we were too close not to add it to the list. We ended up caching longer than anticipated due to a lack of sleeping options. Finally found a place in Thedford.
Our last day was short and to the point. We had a line of counties between us and the Iowa border and we wanted to find a cache in each of them. We found one or two caches in each of them before hitting the border at noon. Right on schedule After that, it was just a matter of beating feet home.
Thanks to all the COs that placed or created a cache for us to find on this trip. Without you, we would not have found have the interesting places we ended up. I couldn't think of a better way to spend vacation. We used our Team Barcelona stamp to mark all the physical logs.
Interesting how history tends to repeat itself. We read through the information at ground zero and knew the more recent connection. We wandered around a bit before heading back across the street to our vehicle.

Took a bit of a long weekend, well five days anyway and hopped in a car with Boreal Walker and yellowdogs (AKA - Team Barcelona) and headed west aiming for parts unknown. This cache was one of those on the adventure. Learned some new stuff here at this stop. Really enjoy virtual caches that do that. Thanks for setting this one up and keeping it going.

I am on a road trip with Boreal Walker and jREST from Minnesota to New Mexico and back meandering our way through as many counties as we could with many target caches in our sights. The weather was decent, although we did have a day that the temperatures reached 100 degrees and we were very thankful for the air conditioning the car provided. We enjoyed our journey and the many laughs along the way along with the great places some of these caches brought us to.
Our answers have been sent. Thanks for the cache!

Day four and our final day of our four day caching trip to CO/NE/KS. Created our final list with much more of the same type target caches and hope to get to as many as we can before turning in the rental and flying home tonight. Thanks to all the COs who placed and maintain these caches for us to enjoy. If I haven't already done so, I will be sending the answers for any caches that require them for the both of us by the end of the night when back at the hotel. Thanks!!

After finding 2100 caches in seven days with Alamogul in Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota (all new states for me) I decided to stop off in Denver between flights and drive up to Wyoming for one more new state. I primarily wanted to log the webcams in Cheyenne and Laramie, but I also logged eight virtual caches en route and one regular cache on the continental divide. Thanks to the CO's for all these great caches!

During a short business trip I visited a number of geocaches in and around the city. Among the caches visited are quite a few virtuals are this cache type is rather rare.
Indeed a location that one would not have noticed. Interesting piece of history presented at this small park/memorial. After some research I got confirmation from the CO that I got the right answers.
geofred greetings from the Netherlands and thanks for creating this virtual and making me aware of this location.

My 400th find - xxBriGuyxx and myself cached the day away. Planned so he would hit his 700th find (and my 400th) at the same location. Remember this area so well from so many years ago. Learning some of the history of the area answered many question (and created other questions. Best Wishes, DustyRiver
