Don't worry, this cache isn't contagious!! I felt compelled to place a Streptococcus cache because it was this bacterium that caused me to miss the recent meet and greet.

The cache is currently a silver bison tube hanging at my head height on the small pine next to the large tree it was originally at the base of. Refer to 4/18/13 maintenance log for spoiler photos. There is a lot of signal bounce in the area. While here stroll a little further up the trail to Alan's Memorial.
Streptococcus is a genus of spherical Gram-positive bacteria. In addition to streptococcal pharyngitis, or strep throat, certain Streptococcus species are responsible for many cases of meningitis, bacterial pneumonia, endocarditis, erysipelas and necrotizing fasciitis (the 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections). However, many streptococcal species are non-pathogenic. Indeed, Streptococci are a necessary ingredient in Emmentaler ("Swiss") cheese....which by the way is excellent in cheese fondue!! Streptococci are also part of the normal flora of the mouth, skin, intestine, and upper respiratory tract of humans.

Hmm, this one was tough. I was not able to find it as the snow picked up in the area. I'll be back another day.

No luck today. Checked the spoiler photos and I’m pretty sure this is the large tree it was referring to. But no joy.

I'm always saying that this sport needs more geocaches named after infectious diseases, so imagine my surprise when I could run out and snag some Strep! I searched pretty long for this one, but my immune system proved too strong and could not catch the bug.

Took a bit of a long weekend, well five days anyway and hopped in a car with Boreal Walker and yellowdogs (AKA - Team Barcelona) and headed west aiming for parts unknown. This cache was one of those on the adventure. I was busy wandering around and enjoying the area and by the time I caught up, Boreal Walker already had the cache and ink to paper. TNLNSL

I am on a road trip with Boreal Walker and jREST from Minnesota to New Mexico and back meandering our way through as many counties as we could with many target caches in our sights. The weather was decent, although we did have a day that the temperatures reached 100 degrees and we were very thankful for the air conditioning the car provided. We enjoyed our journey and the many laughs along the way along with the great places some of these caches brought us to.
Stamped the log Team Barcelona. Thanks for the cache! BigSmile

Found it but not as described. Not hanging! Hid it in the same place I found it. Cache is in great condition, with but a hint of condensation. I dried it as best I could. Didn't sign log as I have no pen. I'm out trail running. TFTC Powderfinger, Corning, NY
