Temple Canyon Scenic Loop: BLM Road 6100

If you have a high clearance vehicle and if the gate is open park at the parking waypoint. Otherwise park at the gate. Do not try to access the cache straight from the county road unless you bring some climbing gear. The photo is the view from near the cache. I strongly recommend you bring a stick to poke around with before you try to retrieve the container.

ALL CACHES IN THIS SERIES ARE IN RELATIVELY REMOTE AREAS. THERE IS LITTLE CHANCE OF COMING INTO CLOSE CONTACT WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

Temple Canyon Scenic Loop is a scenic 15 mile drive through Temple Canyon Park. All caches are along or near Temple Canyon Road (County Road 3). The road is mostly unpaved and can be rough depending on recent weather. Most passenger cars can navigate this road, but there are some rough spots. The road is mostly not plowed when it snows. Cell phone service is nonexistent along much of the route.

You will need to gather clues in caches along the way for coordinates to - TCSL: Temple Overlook in Temple Canyon Park. You can do this series from east to west or west to east without having to backtrack. Going east to west, in Caņon City take First Street south to Temple Canyon Road. Going west to east take County Road 3 south from Parkdale.

You could probably do this series in 2-3 hours, but it is designed to be done at a leisurely pace. Take your time and enjoy the many spectacular views. Pack a lunch. There are picnic tables and restrooms in Temple Canyon Park. Most of the caches require just a short walk on easy to moderate terrain, but some have steep drop offs, loose rocks and lots of cacti.

Saw this series publish last night so decided to get an early start and go down and do some caching. Not an early enough start for any FTFs but had a great time anyway.
Thanks Room1009 for the fun cache and really fun series. All the variety in the hides was great.

Pulled off at a wide parking area and walked up the closest trail. Then had to go cross country a little bit to a better road and walked to the nearest point to the cache. After that I followed my GPS and a couple sets of tracks to the area of the cache. It still took a while to find it, bright sun and dark shadows made the search difficult. I had picked up half a fishing pole at the abandoned homeless camp (or trash pile) and poked around 'till I heard something that didn't sound like stone. Made the find, signed the log and traded a hot wheels car for the ski pin. Thanks for a reason to get out on a great sunny day.

This one I had to make harder than it was. Yes I stopped were I thought was ground zero and walked up to the rock face and said to my self "Its up there" So I got in the jeep I went to the gate like I should have in the first place. Once I got the jeep parked I was on my way to the cache. While going to the cache a found a pile of trash that some D Bag is to cheap to take it to the landfill. Make me mad when people do that. I finally found the cache. Great hiding place. Thanks for this new series of caches. I do Have a few more to do.

FTF at about 7:30. It's kind of funny that we we're here just yesterday dropping travelers and doing maintenance and now we're back today finding all these GREAT caches. I had a pretty good idea where this one was hidden because I had seen a parking area yesterday when we were doing maintenance on the Hydra Multi. ( LOST ) We had to make our way through all the cactus to make the quick find! GREAT series Room 1009! Wink Now it's time to go home for breakfast and some coffee. A good variety of types and hides! Well done. Signed the FTF spot and it's time to go home. [8d][8d] SL TFTC TNLN
