GCMGZY Multi-cache LSA - Physics
Type: Multi | Size: Small Small | Difficulty: 2.5 out of 5 | Terrain: 2.5 out of 5
By: hiking_fool, adopted by WingsAndTales @ | Hide Date: 01/17/2005 | Status: Available
Country: United States | State: Colorado
Coordinates: N38° 55.419 W104° 47.524 | Last updated: 08/30/2019 | Fav points: 10

This is a two-stop (initial, with a puzzle, and final) multi that takes you to a nice little spot with some great views.
Try to be discrete at the first stop, which has the clue to the final location. (Might as well be discrete at the second stop too.) The final is a small, camo'ed tin container. Approach the final by following the road up and around as far as necessary. Do not try the most direct approach because of the possibility of dislodging rocks (endangering not only yourself but also anyone below you.)

Update 8-24-05 Elaborated on the hint.

Update 2-23-12 Final was muggled so it's been replaced by a small tin and moved a few feet away (same coords)to a better hiding spot.

The first stop is missing. It will be easy to fix but it will take me a couple days. I will have to move the first stage slightly.

We needed 1 multi and 7 traditional caches today for a challenge cache we're working on. This one fit the bill perfectly! Fun multi/puzzle. Quick find after a short hike. Signed log. Thanks for the cache!

Thanks for the fun multi cache! I had stopped for waypoint 1 last year sometime and luckily solved it and saved it. I decided after work to finally get this one off my list. I was feeling rather miserable with some kind of bug but figured I'd torture myself some. Lol Wink So I started up the hill from an easy access and made it to the GZ pretty quick. After poking around in a few spots I managed to spot it. I signed and stamped the log and returned as found. All is well here. Great views in all directions from up here! This is hands down m favorite park in Colorado Springs. Thanks again for creating this cache and allowing us to enjoy a bit of what we have to offer here!

After quite some time thinking about it, I finally had the opportunity to try this cache. I also attempted GCMCXA LSA - Chemistry on the same day, but LSA Physics proved a bit more difficult. I found the first waypoint and puzzle in good order. I knew what needed to be done on the puzzle, but did not have the resources in the field to solve it. I had done so many of those kind of decryptions, I knew a number of them by memory; not to mention back in the day while in school. I'm rusty now, so I had to retreat to home base to get the resources I needed. I'm still scratching my head why this puzzle didn't accompany LSA Chemistry, but I guess the alternative would have been to calculate the molecular density of a black hole or something. I'm not complaining. After a few days I had the opportunity to finally come after the final. The man made feature near GZ once again reminded me of LSA Chemistry. I made this one harder to find than needed. The snow still covered the ground here and I could not make out the easiest path. I unfortunately scaled a pretty sheer slope, the mud and snow making it much more slippery and difficult; but I finally pulled myself up using upper body strength. The GPS wouldn't cooperate and 'settled' and two different locations. I chose to focus on the one that looked more like something the CO would prefer and was rewarded with the find. I lingered a bit to enjoy the view, I never get tired of it. Thanks to the CO for the fun hunt, nice cache and keeping this old one alive; TFTC!

Found while visiting my sister, been busy and working on challenges I stamped while in the area. I love puzzles, and thanks to the hint I got stage 1 right away. At the time there wasn't as much snow which made the cache easier to get to/ find. Thanks for keeping this fun multi going and for taking ownership, I enjoyed it and I hope it can stick around for many more years!

Yet another multi that I start on one day and end on another. Although this one was only 2 days apart. I think my record is something like 3 years between start and finish. I enjoyed the walk this morning.

This summer while visiting in Michigan I signed two challenge caches requiring you to have found and logged 100 multis. I didn't realize I was so far away nor how long it would take to get there, but with this cache I finally can say I've logged 100 multis. Tftc!
