This is more about the hike than the hide. Once you get to the COORDs it will be quite apparent why this cache is so named. This is our first hide and wanted to show nature lovers one of my favorite places. This is a great area , but not for beginning hikers, it can be a LONG hike if you make the full loop, and elevation gain is a factor. The container is a 1qt nalgene bottle, contining log, pencils, tissues, and a dice game ( for trading or simply playing while taking a rest stop here), and 1 of our Family Frogs ( he would enjoy hopping around). it is a fairly easy find, once you get to the COORDs. This is a fairly unexplored region and only 1 or 2 other caches in the immediate vicintity. I would suggest parking at the experimental forest station and following the road/trail on the north east side of the buildings. This is at the moment in the process of a small logging operation, but once you are past the cut zone, simply follow the valley east watching for the trail to climb STEEPLY to your right (approx 1.3 miles in). Once you find the trail it is very clear but the logging has not been kind to the trailhead area. As I said it is NOT for BEGINNERS. if you combine this with the Mt. Deception cache you could be looking at between a 8 to 10 mile hike, dependent on your choice of exit route.

07/24/2016 By Back Country Horsemen Made the climb up to the two caches in Mt Deception then decided I had enough time & the weather looked good to head to this one. I've been using my iPhone since my GPS has been on the fritz. I sure do miss those topo lines! I tried to stay high until I was pretty sure I should go down. In the last 750' I did pick up a steep trail that took me the rest of the way to the cabin. The cache was a quick find but I also left a pencil since there was no other writing instrument. I was worried about getting back out to my car but was relieved to see a nice trail that took me in the correct direction until the last, again, 750' but it was a quick bushwhack.
09/12/2015 By RPieperCO Thanks for the cache in such a beautiful spot! Today was pretty hectic! We started early and headed up to Cripple Creek to finish off a multi we have been working on. We cached our way through town and eventually back to Woodland Park. I've been wanting to come up and grab this cache for a long time given it's the only one with a 1/5 ratting within about 100 miles it seems. So after a quick lunch we headed over this way. The hike wasn't too bad, carrying two kiddos through parts of it took it toll. We eventually made it to our destination and explored around and grab some pictures. Quick find of the cache and we all signed and stamped the log. Just then my little button managed to step on a nail! Ugh! Luckily it only went into her shoe and not through her foot. Still, it could have been the end of the world to a 4 year old! We replaced the cache and saw to the little one. No damage, but, insistent I carry her out! ha ha ha! Word of caution for future visitors, watch where you step. Spectacular visit and cache location! We loved it!
09/12/2015 By YamaGypsy Finally! I've had this cache on my list for a while. A rare d/t combo in Colorado. RPieperco and I had a multi up in Cripple Creek to finish so on our way back through we detoured over to this one since he needed it for the fizzy grid. Sl, thanks!
