I grew up in Durango and I have always heard about this story. I know they filmed the movie about it in a much more dramatic location. Glad to have a little bit of real history, and made me want to look it up more. Thanks for taking us to this virtual!

Its right there. Not sure about the history and the trains in this part of the southwest. Even the streets are named after these historic characters. Thanks G'man for the virtual cache. By the way, I left it the same way I found it!

We are staying at an RV Resort area in Bayfield. It is a lovely place and there are lots of caches in Bayfield and Durango. Today was a caching morning. We had breakfast in Bayfield found one cache and then headed out to find more. This was a fine virtual in a area with well maintained gravel roads, horses and small ranches. Thanks for encouraging the drive out here.

Day 3: On a road trip with Mr. Kirbydox and Wolfie the dog. We are having a great time seeing some new (and old) sights today. We drove the scenic route from Taos to Durango. There was a smoky haze in the air all day from the wildfires.
Thanks for placing this cache!
