 Huron

Many people today do not realize that Huron and Wyandot are the same people. Originally, more than a dozen Iroquoian-speaking tribes of southern Ontario, they referred to themselves as Wendat meaning "island people" or "dwellers on a peninsula." Rendered variously as: Guyandot, Guyandotte, Ouendat, Wyandot, and Wyandotte. The French, however, called members of a four-tribe confederacy Huron, a derogatory name derived from their word "hure" meaning rough or ruffian. This has persisted as their usual name in Canada.

Out and about soaking up the last few hours of Colorado sunshine before heading back to the cold Midwest for what is sure to be a wet and soggy spring. Note: I live in the Red River valley where flooding of epic proportions has been forecasted.

I digress. I made this find with my sister (beluga_squad) during what became my best day of geocaching to date! TFTC :)

It was just before sundown when I grabbed this cache. This is #13 for me in the Native American Tribe series. Everything is in okay shape and dry.
Thanks for the history about the Huron (Wyndotte) tribe. I'm very familiar with this tribe as I grew up close to their traditional homelands.
Thanks for placing all these great caches as part of this very extensive series. It's also great to earn another yellow smiley.
Keep calm and cache on!

Spent another half day geocaching in the area. A little warm but, fun just the same. Thanks to all the CO's that made this possible.
