Located just off the Mt. Blanca/Como lake Jeep trail. Any vehicle can easily make it to the parking area 1.65 miles from the cache. A vehicle with higher clearance or 4 wheel drive can drive almost right to it. The trail does get progressively tougher so if you are having trouble, park and walk the rest of the way. Most 4x4s should be able to drive to within .05 miles of the cache.
This cache was originally meant for the Old La Veta Pass. Unfortunately we found out why there were no caches there. It is all private land. After finding the same thing on the current La Veta Pass we decided to just move it to a great local Jeep trail. The Mt Blanca/ Como lake trail is one of the tougher Jeep trails in Colorado and very heavily traveled. We placed this cache just where the hard part of the trail starts so as to make it available for the largest number of geocachers. The area is used a lot so please hide it as well as you found it and use discretion if campers are present.

You are looking for a .50 cal ammo can labeled Old La Veta 4X4. The original contents are...

One Million Dollars (OK, a $1,000,000 bill of dubious origin)
Verizon hands free earbud
Lime Pick
Maxine's Postcards travel bug
The Alien and the Bartender travel bug

Happy Geocaching,
Dave, Gina, Jere, and Bandit

Wanting to make an adventure we decided to go on the Jeep trail and found this geocache. Take along your boots and some water this one will be a fun time

Well that was interesting! I searched high and low for this one after driving a short portion of the Como Lake Road. I parked and hiked a quarter mile to the GZ and just couldn't find it. Hanging my head low and trudging back to the Jeep I came across the ammo can in the wide open about 104 feet from the GZ! The log has an entry from April 2016 that says he stumbled upon it by accident while hiking. He must have simply left it uncovered and quite a way from the GZ. I signed the log and rehid it at the proper coords under an obvious pile of rocks.

Those are some rather loose rocks on the road! Opted to stretch the legs a bit and quite enjoyed the sunshine, along with the shadier cache sight! Thanks for placing this cache!

Found during a failed attempt at bagging Little Bear. Had the time of my life though. This I believe is my first CO cache. Picked up the TB.

ernie66 and I really didn't have much energy left after finishing Blanca, so we were glad this one wasn't a challenge to get to. TFTC!
