Cache is located at a trailhead that leads to a gold panning area that was once part of Arapahoe Bar.  Arapahoe Bar is the site of the first gold discovery in Jefferson County.  There is a nice informational sign here that you can read about a nice slice of local history.

I had to get my fix if playing in the dirt here since the mountains are frozen. I recovered some colors for a couple hours and then grabbed this hide on the way back to the truck. I bring people here to teach them the basics of prospecting and panning so for that I give a fav!

Always nice to turn a frown upside down but to do so I had to finally just ignore the multitude of parking muggles. This time I found a flip phone near the cache & had to shoo off the big spider guarding the cache & swipe away his web.
