11 December 2022, 09:30 - 11:30
We'll gather from 9:30 – 11:30 am at the posted coordinates for coffee and fun. As always, note that food and beverages are available, but not provided by your host. Attending the event does not obligate you to participate in the bison tube exchange, but if you are interested continue reading.
Bison Tube Gift Exchange Guidelines:
1) Prior to coming to the event, I would like you to hide a gift (never-to-be published Christmas Cache) to be exchanged with another geocacher somewhere within 5 (FIVE) miles of the posted coordinates of this event. Please also do not go over a 2 difficulty or terrain as it is a fun event not a challenging one. The gift can be whatever you like... gift card, unactivated geocoins, TB dog tags, swag items, cache containers, etc. Please use your own judgement in selecting your gift items and make sure that they are about 20 dollars in value (container included). You may place your gift items in an inexpensive cache container (i.e., tupperware, Christmas tin, etc.) and hide it to be found later that day. Make sure your gift container is weather resistant and critter-proof. Don't forget to mark a waypoint for your hidden gift for step 2.
2) Bring a bison tube, (any color, and feel free to decorate it if you like) CLICK HERE if you need one, and are participating in the exchange. Inside the Bison tube, place a slip of paper with the coordinates of the Christmas Cache you hid for another cacher to find. In addition, it would be a good idea to write your geocaching name and cell phone number on the paper in case the Christmas seeker needs a phone-a-friend to help them find their Christmas Cache.
3) At the event, the bison tubes will be placed on a Christmas Tree. Everyone who places a bison tube on the tree will then be able to randomly choose another bison tube from the tree. For those families with multiple cachers, you may bring more than one bison tube, but there needs to be one Christmas Cache hidden for each bison tube placed on the tree or someone will be disappointed.
4) After the event, go find your Christmas Cache! Remember... the entire cache is yours to keep, including the container; so make sure you take everything with you after the hunt. These containers are never to be left behind nor published as a regular cache.
5) When you log the event as attended, please THANK THE CACHER WHO HID YOUR CHRISTMAS CACHE FOR THE GIFT. You may share what your Christmas Cache contained if you like, and feel free to post pictures of the Christmas Cache, too. You can even post a picture of the hiding spot, since this is not a regular cache hide. I'll leave the event page up for a while to make sure everyone can easily log and see others' logs.
Additional Thoughts...
You can be as creative as you want in hiding your Christmas Cache. You can make it a traditional type cache, or you can make it a puzzle-cache or multi-cache to make the hunt more fun. Use your imagination!
Message Quinster212 or Barasaur if you have any questions concerning the rules.

12/11/2022 By quinnster212 WOW great turn out! Thank you for everyone that came from near and far. I did the Christmas exchange and picked up a bison for cacher that left early. I also picked a bison that said I won a coin so that was an added bonus! My gift was from Chihuahuas-3. I’m really going to enjoy it.
12/11/2022 By Jbullfrog62 Thanks for the wonderful event. I look forward to this event every year whether it's in Colorado or even just across the border in Wyoming.
I picked a bison tube, that was a 3D printed tube, I love it. It had a note in it that said this is a gift from Barasaur and to pick another bison tube. Thank you Bary.
The next one I picked had coordinates in it from Golden B's. My container had a waterproof phone case and some chocolates. Thank you Cheri.
I had also placed 2 bison tubes on the tree. One had a note saying Congratulations you've won a 2022 Gold border Colorado geo-coin and to pick another bison tube. Quinnster212 picked that bison tube. Congratulations Donna.
This was a fun event and I look forward to the next one.
